This well-presented terraced cottage is situated within a charming mews, in the hamlet of Afton, near the village of Freshwater Bay on the west coast of the Isle of Wight. This cottage has been tastefully furnished throughout to provide light and airy accommodation and is perfect for families wishing to holiday by the sea, with some of the best beaches on the Isle of Wight within easy reach. Walk through the porch into a lovely open plan living area, with cosy seating, and a modern fitted kitchen which encompasses an L-shaped island unit and seating; perfect for a romantic candle lit dinner for two, or for a family supper whilst discussing your next day’s activities.
To your right is the family bathroom, with a shower over the bath. Next door to this is an adult bunk bedroom, and finally the master double bedroom. Outside the front door is a communal lawned garden and a garage that can be used for the safe keeping of any outdoor equipment and also stores the outside table and chairs. Afton boasts stunning bird life within its marshes and an extremely challenging downlands golf course, which offers striking views and breathtaking sunsets across the Channel. Just outside Afton is Tennyson Down where you can take a picnic up to Tennyson Monument to relax and let your senses come to life, with the simplicity and beauty of the translucent sea and clean air.
Walk towards the Causeway, where you will find bridleways taking you along the River Yar. A visit to Yarmouth to sample some of the island’s best pubs, restaurants, delis and boutique shops, is a must. If you’re looking for a truly relaxing holiday, then this cottage is for you. This is a true buckets and spades holiday that can be enjoyed all year round.
The small hamlet of Afton is located close to the village and bay of Freshwater on the Isle of Wight. Freshwater village offers a selection of shops, cafes, the West Wight Sports Centre and Indoor Swimming Pool and golf club.

The location is excellent and is set facing a quiet courtyard which is very attractive. Well equipped and certainly good for the two of us. Everything functioned well although we didn't have to test the heating during our stay. The 3rd & 4th beds in the 2nd bedroom are bunk beds and only suitable I would say for children. Also storage would be an issue for more than 2 people and a longer stay. We were able to store our suitcases in the second bedroom. The closeness to the main road (main bedroom) wasn't such an issue as it looked and we were not disturbed by traffic that there was. We experienced no adverse reaction to parking as others have alluded to although on most occasions when we returned from a day out, the existing parking arrangements didn't provide a space for us. Clearly some people here have their favourite spot and stick to it. Nevertheless we parked in the lane safely enough. The lack of wifi/broandband is nowadays unusual I would say. Didn't spoil our stay of course but a weathered eye on data usage was needed - even the most basic of internet speed would have been welcome.
