Freshwater village is the main shopping area that services the West of the Isle of Wight with a number of established stores and a supermarket. There are two churches in Freshwater which are worth a visit, the medieval All Saint’s and the thatched church of St Agnes which is in the Freshwater Bay area. Really enjoyed our stay. It was lovely to walk to the beach and have a swim. Having visited the IOW before we went to several places including black gang chine, Osbourne Hse, and the donkey sanctuary. We ate there twice. Definitely the best restaurant on the island. We did eat at the Rock, the food was nice but very expensive!

Lovely quiet location, everything clean and tidy, with detailed information. We may return and do some of the lovely walks nearby which wasn't possible due to the heatwave. There is no hairdryer, but it was so hot it wasn't a problem. The fans were very useful. There was limited choice at the local supermarket, so if you are staying a few days like we did, maybe shop in a bigger store on route from the ferry!
