The Old Village is renowned for its pretty thatched cottages, cosy tea rooms, pubs, restaurants and craft shops. The seaside town of Shanklin is well served by public transport around the island with regular buses and the railway ‘Island Line’ to Ryde and Sandown. Outdoor pursuits on the island include horse riding, fishing, cycling, paragliding, golf and water sports. There are numerous attractions across the island to discover for all ages, such as The Needles, with its chairlift, amusement park, boat rides, lighthouse and coloured sands of Alum Bay. Blackgang Chine, Dinosaur Isle, the Isle of Wight Steam Railway, Ventnor Botanical Gardens, Tapnell Farm Park and Carisbrooke Castle are other attractions. Or why not pay a visit to Queen Victoria’s favourite holiday residence, Osborne House and its gardens? The sailing towns of Yarmouth and Cowes also make for a great day out. We had a lovely 4 nights in this beautiful house, which we used as a base for a hiking holiday. It’s 10 mins walk from the station - the beach is at the end of the road although you’ll need to walk along the top of the cliff costal park to get to the promenade. There’s a convenience store on the corner but the very thoughtful owners also left an excellent welcome hamper with bread, biscuits, fruit. a bottle of wine and, in the fridge, butter. The house is warm, welcoming and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

We would thoroughly recommend this family accommodation. Everything we needed was at hand and more besides. Extremely good welcome pack we couldn't ask for more.

We had a wonderful stay At the old school mews! The location was easy to find, and all of us were really impressed with how clean and well presented the house was. The openers had very kindly left a welcome package including bread and milk and a bottle of wine (plus loads of other bits and bobs!) these were so helpful and much needed as our food shop had been delayed. There accommodation worked perfectly for us, the only thing I would change is the being a black out blind on the skylight in the children’s bedroom? Would have made nap times a little easier! But honestly the House was a perfect refuge from the slightly fact weather we had whilst away. Warm and snug. I would recommend it to anyone!
