Stepping inside the property, you’re greeted into the living room with its warm ambience enhanced by the cosy wood burner, making this a perfect space to relax and unwind in front of the Smart TV in complete comfort. The kitchen and dining room are merged together and is well equipped with all you may need to rustle up a meal for your loved ones, making another great space for socialising after a day’s adventures. Upstairs you’ll find two well-furnished bedrooms offering either king-size or three single beds, all ensuring a comfortable night’s sleep, and hairstraighteners are also provided. Also on this floor is the bathroom, combining a bath with a shower over, offering the versatility of a refreshing shower and the indulgence of a relaxing bath in one convenient space.
Shanklin and its surrounding area offer a plethora of captivating sights and engaging activities for visitors to explore. In Shanklin itself, one can start by strolling along the picturesque Shanklin Chine, a stunning gorge with lush vegetation, cascading waterfalls, and enchanting pathways. Tired is the best description. From the key box which was almost impossible to access, past the windows dirty on the inside and mould around the shower, to the broken loo seat ( a note on the board to the effect it would be replaced asap - not over the week we were there!) it needs a good bit of TLC. So different to when we visited 13 years ago.It is well situated, pleasant outlook and reasonably comfortable but although plenty of hot water, a hot shower proved hard to obtain; there were no apparent signs of any electrical safety checking (PAT stickers) for many years (only evidence for the gas boiler); heavy limescale evident on shower and taps - it all appeared rather neglected.

We were a little disappointed with this holiday cottage. Whilst it is situated in a peaceful rural area a short drive from Shanklin we had a number of issues which I took up with the owner.1. Toilet seat in bathroom loose on one side- I was unable to adjust. ( a previous review advised the toilet seat was broken, I was informed by owner the seat was new and only fitted a couple of weeks ago)2. There was no bath mat in bathroom.(A previuos review said there were no hand towels so we took our own, in practice there were plenty of towels)3. There are two property information books but both are in need of updating. Contact number for owner out of date, but I did manage to locate a mobile number and speak to the owner.4. Velux blind in bed 2 did not open.5 Baking tray in kitchen in poor condition owner agreed it should be disposed of.6. Lack of extra black bags in kitchen.Nothing is recycled everything should be put in black bags ready for collection.7. Garden in need of tidy up shrubs to side of path need cutting back. 2 hanging baskets were dead, owner agreed I could take down.8. Key safe difficult to operate.All of these points show a lack of attention to detail which is a shame as they impact the holiday experience.
