About this property

Tovah is a wonderful terraced cottage full of character, located in Yarmouth on the Isle of Wight ideally located to explore the West Wight.

The cottage is a Grade II listed building, the accomodation is over 3 floors with a balcony overlooking the Solent, it is one of the oldest buildings in Yarmouth, dated circa 1550. Step through the front door and into the spacious, characterful living room, with its hardwood flooring, expansive fireplace and exposed beams it’s like stepping back in time. Step through the double doors into the dining room to reveal a farmhouse solid pine table with seating for up to six people. While the property has been renovated to a contemporary holiday home, there are still period features attesting to the history of the cottage, such as the exposed beams, spiral staircase, latched doors and feature fireplaces. A further set of doors lead into the kitchen with its modern fixtures and fittings and a convenient breakfast bar. This light and airy room is the perfect place for making a home-cooked meal with the family. The living room, dining room and kitchen are easily connected as one large communal area ideal for family living with the doors open or can be separated as separate rooms with doors closed, it is very flexible depending on the individual needs. There is a good supply of children's games in the wooden chest including the Isle of Wight Monopoly game! The kitchen also has a door which leads out to the enclosed garden, which is made up of a lawn and patio areas, ideal for enjoying a meal or drink on a warm evening.

The bedrooms are set across two floors, and consist of one double, one twin and one king-size master bedroom with exposed beams and en-suite bathroom. The bedrooms have been equipped with charming furniture, including built-in wardrobes. The master bedroom can be found on the second floor and has steps leading up to a large balcony area with lovely views across the Solent. Roadside permit parking is available as well as in the local car park. Yarmouth is a wonderful base for exploring the Isle of Wight and is ideally located in the beautiful West Wight. The town square is 50 yards away from the property with beautiful restaurants, book shop, coffee and tea shops, boutique clothing shops, art galleries, antique shop, Yarmouth Castle and a historical wooden pier. There is also the highly prestigious aspect of the harbour and marina, alongside fantastic walking and cycling opportunities down the river Yar and many more. Yarmouth has plenty to offer and is easily accessible from the mainland without the need for a car as the ferry comes in only a two-minute walk from this cottage, and there is a great bus network to get about on the island, some fabulous walks and trails and the iconic Needles are located within 5 miles. Tovah is the perfect place to stay in order to explore all that Yarmouth, the West Wight and the Isle of Wight has to offer.

Yarmouth is a town, port and civil parish located in the Isle of Wight, England. Yarmouth Pier was opened in 1876. It received Grade 2 listed status in 1975. Originally 685 ft long, it's now 609 ft but is still the longest timber pier in England and is open to the public. In St. James's Church there is a monument to the 17th century admiral Sir Robert Holmes who was at Yarmouth. He obtained it in a raid on a French ship, when he seized an unfinished statue of Louis XIV of France and forced the sculptor to finish it with his own head rather than the king's.

Great location, slap bang in the centre of Yarmouth. Very handy for the fabulous fish & chips next door! We arrived late on the Friday evening and were given the wrong set of keys by Hardy's. Also, rather reluctantly told that we were 'entitled' to 2 pints of milk. It's not what you say, it's the way....... The house was freezing and didn't seem 'guest ready'. All in all, a rather unwelcoming start. The low beams were a problem right from the get go and my husband nearly knocked himself out on a number of occasions. It was so bad we considered returning home early but we managed to better navigate things as the days went by. The little log burner was gorgeous but sadly very few logs were left for us to burn. Disappointing that we had to pay our own way to supplement the heating, as a few more logs would've gone a long way. I guess we weren't quite prepared for a winter break and assumed (wrongly) that the heating side of things would be taken care of. The week felt like a battle to stay warm as well as stay safe (from the beams). The kitchen was so cold, that we had to put the Aga stove on to help warm the room up, as there was no other mode of heating. In a nutshell, the overall stay was disappointing and I'm sure it would've been quite a different experience in the summer. I think it would take only a small effort to get this lovely cottage up to a winter stay standard, so please don't take my feedback as completely negative. The view from the master bedroom window was wonderful and was a joy to wake up to every morning. We're regulars to Yarmouth, and everyone is so friendly.

The cottage was cosy and had everything supplied that we could wish for. We enjoyed our stay so much that we have booked again for next year. It was definitely a home from home and we were very reluctant to leave!

Great walking area and easy to get to other places. Nice view of the Solent from the balcony on top bedroom. Thank you to the owners for organising the parking permit.
