About this property

Dating back to the 1700's and situated on the edge of Poole in the suburb of Hamworthy, charming Fiddlers Green is the perfect cottage for up to four guests, ideally situated just yards from the water's edge of Poole Harbour.

Hamworthy, on the edge of Poole, was the site of an Iron Age settlement before it was taken over by the Romans in the 1st century, with the Roman Emperor Vespasian brought the Second Augustan Legion to the harbour in 43AD. Located in this area so steeped in nautical history, Fiddlers Green is an attractive cottage dating back to the 1700's and one of the original properties in the area. This unique cottage boasts a wealth of character features, and offers comfortable accommodation with a semi open-plan layout on the ground floor, which includes a combined sitting and dining room with a double-sided wood burning stove and a small sun room. The open hallway has a flagstone floor which leads through to the charming kitchen with its beamed ceiling, also to the ground floor you will find a wet room with overhead shower, WC and hand basin.

Stairs lead you to the first floor landing, off which you will find the large double-aspect king-size bedroom, a pretty twin bedroom and the family bathroom with a roll-top bath and separate walk-in shower enclosure. To the rear of the cottage you will find the pretty garden where you can relax with your morning coffee, and plan your day's adventures.

Just steps away is the water's edge and attractive 26 acre harbour-side Hamworthy Park with its own harbour beach, extensive playing fields and stunning views across to National Trust owned Brownsea Island. Stroll along the water's edge to nearby Poole Quay where you can take one of the regularly scheduled boats across to Brownsea Island, the original home of the scout movement and now a nature reserve, run in conjunction with Dorset Wildlife Trust. Nature lovers will also enjoy Holes Bay Nature Park, which is just a pleasant walk away. Poole and its neighbour Bournemouth offer an extensive choice of restaurants, pubs, cafes, shops and entertainment venues including The Lighthouse Theatre and the Bournemouth International Centre, a popular concert venue.

Thank you so much for all the snacks you so kindly left for us. We really enjoyed staying at your charming cottage. Our dog enjoyed your garden! Great spot to explore the many parks ad beaches and the wood burning stove was a hit for my partner. We will definitely recommend it to our friends! Thank you.

What a stunning greeting from the Purple Laburnam, which sets the cottage off perfectly! Thank you for allowing us to stay at such short notice and for the snacks! We loved the quirkiness and the conservatory is a real tonic.

  • The C Family

A beautiful garden and and a house with all the amenities included, made it a home from home. Perfectly positioned for Poole Quay side, Corfe Caste and Swanage. The weather was a bit cold all around the country, but that was the perfect excuse to use the gorgeous wood burning stove. Thank you again, and we will definitely be back!
