Blagdon 2.4 miles. In between Cheddar and Wells, perched on the outskirts of the beautiful Mendip Hills, which is a listed Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, you will find this delightful holiday home, The Loft at Nordrach. Situated close to the B3134, it is a very short drive to Cheddar, Wells and a little further on to Weston-super-Mare, Bath, Bristol and many other Somerset attractions. The Loft welcomes two couples or a family of four. There is off-road parking and the use of the large garden and private balcony, ideal for children and your pet dog. This cosy two-bedroom cottage is accessed by an external stairway leading to the entrance of this single-level dwelling. The property has a tastefully presented open-plan living space. The fully equipped kitchen provides all the appliances needed to rustle up a delicious meal. The dining area can seat four people comfortably, where you can enjoy your home-cooked meal. Later, you can relax on the sofa and watch a film on TV whilst the wood-burning stove keeps you warm and cosy. When sleep calls, enjoy a relaxing bath before heading to the comfortable king-size beds. In the morning, enjoy a cup of coffee on the balcony as you take in the view. You can take a walk down the lane next to the house which will lead you to stunning views of the Mendip Hills and a wonderful area for keen walkers, cavers, children and dogs. Blagdon is the nearest village, with two pubs, a coffee bar and a shop where you can stock up. There is a lovely scenic walk around the village green leading to the 15th-century church. There is a selection of local pubs offering a relaxing lunch or evening meal. For the closest meal or drink, turn right onto the B3134 to the nearest local pub, The Castle of Comfort, which is two miles away. A little further on, in the village of Priddy, is the traditional rustic pub The Queen Victoria; both serve tasty meals. Nearby attractions include Blagdon Lake and Chew Valley Lake, which are great places for birdwatching, walking and fishing. Chew Valley Lake has two restaurants overlooking the water, The Salt and Malt and Woodford Lodge. Five minutes from Chew Valley Lake is Chew Magna village, recently voted the best place to live in the South West. A short drive from The Loft leads you to Cheddar, renowned for the breathtaking Cheddar Gorge, which leads to the charming village of Cheddar, full of things to see and do for a day out. You can book a tour of its huge, exciting caves, visit the museum, and finally climb the famous Jacob’s Ladder. The cafés and restaurants offer traditional delicacies and a variety of shops sell artisanal goods, and of course, Cheddar cheese. Nearby is picturesque Cheddar Reservoir, which has a club offering taster sessions of paddleboarding and sailing. Wells is also close by and famous for being the smallest city in the UK. It has a stunning cathedral next to the fascinating Bishop’s Palace, and it is a great place to mooch around, with a large market on Wednesdays and Saturdays. Wells has several popular supermarkets and its own cinema. Wookey Hole Caves are situated on the outskirts of Wells and make for a great day out. Not far from Wells is Glastonbury, which is worth a visit with its quirky historic town and the famous Glastonbury Tor. If you fancy a traditional day at the seaside, Weston-super-Mare is the place to go. Venture further to Bath or Bristol and experience these historic cities and their variety of attractions and activities for all ages. Enjoy a memorable escape to Somerset when you book The Loft at Nordrach.
Blagdon is a friendly village and civil parish in the northern part of the Mendip Hills aonb. Boasting no less than 17 listed buildings as well as a 15th century church, it holds much interest. In terms of amenities, it offers two pubs, two convenience stores and a café. To the northeast of the village there is the Blagdon Lake where you can fish, also nearby are the Organic Gardens and a Yeo Valley dairy with a café. The Mendip Hills abounds in scenic walking and cycling country to make the most of. In the surrounding area there is certainly something to suit every taste including a traditional day at the seaside with Weston-super-Mare just 12 miles away, the striking cities of Bristol and Bath are also close by and are more than worth a look around as they display magnificent architecture as well as a vast array of first-class amenities and activities to keep you occupied during your visit.
