There is a handy en-suite bathroom, the sky lights in the ropeloft have blinds; there is also a sail at the front of the mezzanine which can be used as a curtain. The property also has a shower room downstairs, ideal for using after a day of hiking, boating, or exploring the coast. If you can tear yourself away from this stunning abode, a short walk away you can hire kayaks to explore the river, or dine out at the Fishermans Arms, a popular, and friendly pub. To stock up on the essentials and for further eating out options head into Tywardreath or Par, before spending a day in the picturesque sailing destination of Fowey, with its shops, museum, eateries and the secluded sands of Readymoney Cove. A short drive away, head to the Eden Project to tour its botanical garden, stroll around Pinetum Gardens, or visit the delightful port of Charlestown, rich in heritage. Experience a unique escape at Oakenhurst.

This quaint community is located in south Cornwall at the River Fowey's mouth. The River Fowey's estuary creates a natural harbour, which allowed the town to develop into a significant trading hub, home to many sights and activities in and around the harbour. You are sure to find something for the whole family, whether you like spending time on the sea, playing golf, or learning more about the local history. For those who are feeling more adventurous, you can rent your own self-drive boat, kayak, or paddle board and explore the waters on your own. Harbour cruises leave the Town Quay often during the season, offering you a fantastic perspective of the town. Why not take a tour of either Fowey or Polruan?

We had a lovely stay for 2 weeks in November (2023). We were lucky enough to have some sunny days, and the views out across the river are just amazing. It was so relaxing just sitting watching the boats, canoes, and wildlife go by! We were really warm and cosy inside during the evenings, and on the days when the weather was a bit grim. The bedroom in the sail loft is also lovely and cosy. We prefer to visit Cornwall out of season as it is quieter, and Oakenhurst is the perfect property if you like peace and tranquillity, but still want easy access to everything. We would also highly recommend a visit to the Fisherman's Arms, which is a 2 minute walk away, and does excellent food all year round. The train does not disturb at all - in the 2 weeks we stayed, it only went past twice (both times during the day), and it is very slow as it only carries china clay. The only suggestion we would make, is to take a trolley for luggage and shopping (we took a festival trolley) as there is a short (less than a minute) sloped walk from the car park to Oakenhurst. Loading everything in the trolley cuts down on journeys to and from the car! All in all, we loved our stay in this special property and hope to return soon!

Have already booked it again next May. The only downside to the place was the small size of the shower.

A larger shower cubicle / option downstairs. Shower curtain running inside the Bath upstairs. A simplification of the lighting circuitry relating to a more straightforward understanding of which switches switch on and off which lights would be super helpful
