  I picked this cottage for its location, parking space and cleanliness rating. Location and parking were spot on but I didn’t feel like the cottage had been thoroughly cleaned when we arrived. We found a small t shirt on the guest room chair, a dirty tissue under one of the beds & there was sand & hair in the corner of the bathroom behind the door. The skirting boards and other fittings were also a bit dusty and there was a strong smell of dog food when we arrived so the property would have benefited from a good airing! I know Fowey is an expensive area but I’m just not sure it was worth the best part of £2k for a week! And at that price, I was disappointed to not even have any soap provided in the bathroom, which meant having to go straight to the shops and buy some after a 5 hour drive. Even tge batteries on the Wii console were dead so we had to replace those! Holidays are precious and I know I find other people’s reviews really valuable when I’m deciding on a place so wanted to provide an honest summary. I’m sure we just got a bit unlucky with our week as I know other reviews are very complimentary about the cleaning.

  Our two weeks stay at Hybadore was fabulous.

  Fantastic location, fantastic accommodation. Just outside our converted barn we had a private garden which was a real suntrap. Our dog loved that garden, but not as much as she loved the meadow immediately outside the garden gate. There are a couple of benches supplied in the field and we used them to admire the spectacular sunsets, with a glass or two of vino. Inside the house the kitchen is very well equipped and finished nicely. In the living room there is a huge and comfortable L shaped settee, which is essential if your trying to relax after lots of dog walking and swimming! Everything was spotless and very well presented. The owners of Hybadore, Terry and Sarah-Jayne, are extremely welcoming, seemingly always willing to stop and chat and a real source of local knowledge. There is a local pub down the hill in Golant village, The Fishermans Arms, which is a great spot for a few beers a good food. The hike back up the hill didn’t feel too bad after that! Hybadore is a great base to explore all that Cornwall offers. Definitely a 10 out of 10!

  Two weeks of bliss with our two border collies.

  Ideally located property in beautiful surroundings. Accommodation is spacious and has everything you need and accommodates all your needs. The views are great as the living accommodation is upstairs and benefits from the main bedroom downstairs as cooler with the lovely hot weather. Bed was really comfy. Great shower and bath to soak your muscles from walking. Additional separate toilet from main bathroom is ideal. Loved walking in the meadow opposite the enclosed garden and seating area. 10 minute walk to the estuary and the Fisherman's arms so great to have a meal and a pint without using the car. Fowey short drive away for lovely for places to eat, quirky shops and views. Terry and Sarah Jayne great hosts as well as mum (thanks for the mop bucket as bit of a clean freak) The only thing I can say to improve the experience would be an upgrade to the corner leather settee but functional. We would definitely stay again as so peaceful.

  Good location, tricky to find down Browns Hill but managed to find it eventually. A few minutes walk downhill to eat out in the evening or buy provisions, bakeries are really good. Don't be put off by the church in close proximity - although it chimes every 15 mins & on the hour, we did not hear it once we were in the bedroom! The shower is amazing with good pressure which was great to use. Dogs loved the outside space, lucky with sunny weather so a nice place to sit out with a good book. Few things would improve which I have suggested to owner - kitchen utensils (e.g. only 1 wooden spatula, 3 cheap bendy knives). Just a few extra details could make this cottage even better. Tip: take a few dishwasher tablets as we only had 3, take kitchen roll, (w/up liquid & sponge is provided) All in all we had a lovely week here in Fowey, and very lucky with the weather :)
