About this property

This Grade II listed cottage, complete with a traditional thatched roof, rests on the edge of the delightful village of Mullion, the largest on The Lizard. In an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, Clahar Cottage is an endearing base for a family looking to explore a part of Cornwall immersed with picturesque fishing ports, long stretches of sandy beaches and some of the country's finest scenery. Upon entering the whitewashed cottage, you are welcomed into the contemporary interior with delightful farmhouse touches. Prepare delicious home-cooked meals within the kitchen to enjoy together around the dining table, where a striking ESSE cooker takes centre stage. After dinner, step into the sitting room where you can curl up on the sofa with a cup of tea in hand to catch up on TV, whilst the woodburning stove fills the room with warmth during those chilly winter evenings. As the evening draws to a close, venture up the staircase to retire to one of the three stylish king-size bedrooms, one having a cosy en-suite where you can look forward to enjoying a warming soak in the roll top bath. There is the option to convert one of the bedrooms into a twin if required.

During the warmer months, you can look forward to spending time within the garden area, where you can soak up the sun with a refreshing beverage whilst enjoying the tranquil surroundings. If you can tear yourself away from this delightful spot, a short stroll will bring you to a selection of eateries and pubs, and a number of shops for picking up any holiday treats and necessities. To keep you busy whilst staying here, you and your companions will be delighted to explore The Lizard Heritage Coast, perhaps enjoying the views from the South West Coast Path. Close to the Cottage, you can walk to the local beaches, where you can either spend an afternoon at the pretty harbour cove of Mullion, the beautiful and more secluded Polurrian Bay, or the National Trust's Poldhu Cove, where Marconi sent his first

Transatlantic radio message in 1901.You can enjoy surfing here and refreshment at the beach cafe, open 363 days per year. At the Polurrian Bay Hotel, perched above the beach, you can enjoy stunning views across the Atlantic. For a small daily fee, take advantage of their leisure facilities including indoor and outdoor pools, spa and tennis courts. A short drive away is Kynance Cove - also National Trust - famous for its turquoise seas and for where Poldark was filmed. A little further north takes you to the bustling and picturesque harbour resort of Porthleven, tipped as Cornwall's next food hotspot. If golf is your thing, Mullion Golf Club offers fine scenery and views down to the links holes running towards the beach and Gunwalloe Church. For those feeling more active, head to Coverack which is popular due to its superb windsurfing conditions. The only issue we had was that the garden wasn’t secure for the dog. He got out into the farmers field on the first day. We soon got him back, but was lead only round the garden after that. Otherwise, we were very happy and comfortable.

Great welcome pack and the wood for the fire on the first night was much appreciated - we left you our leftovers! We were 6 adults and the 2 single beds were a bit of a challenge - might have been helpful for them to be listed as suitable for children. But it gave us a laugh! Thank you.

The cottage was perfect for us. Good spot for exploring the lizard. Shame there aren’t many dog friendly beaches. We loved the garden though and were very comfortable.
