About this property

A traditional, fisherman’s cottage tucked away down a quiet alleyway just paces from Newlyn's harbour, Bodilly's Cottage can be found in an extremely desirable position from which to explore Cornwall. Sleeping a total of four guests, this lovely dwelling is well-suited to a pair or two couples seeking an idyllic escape to the coast. Combining character and contemporary, inside you will find a charming base to return to after each day of excitement; marvel at the rustic wooden beams lining the ceiling of the open-plan living space, a warming woodburning stove welcoming you in after an afternoon of rambling, the colourful seating arrangement making the perfect space to spend quality time with your loved ones. Enjoy creating lovingly-prepared meals within the amply-equipped kitchen, home to an electric oven and gas hob, microwave, fridge and even a convenient dishwasher, with a washer/dryer in the rear garden utility, this property hosts all you could need for a week-long stay. Sit together at the dining table or carry your conversations out into the garden where you can take a seat on the raised courtyard and make the most of the coastal breeze. Heading up the steep, narrow staircase you will find the two charming bedrooms, a king size and a 4' double both with a lovely armchair where you can sit with your morning coffee as well as a bright, white coastal theme bringing an airy aura to the room. Take a relaxing rinse in the stylish shower room to begin your day, before stepping out the front door to explore Newlyn, the harbour in view from the doorstep, this cottage is in the prime central position. The third largest fishing port in England and an important Port of Refuge for all seafaring craft, Newlyn boasts plenty of maritime history well-worth exploring, with its beautiful harbour and 800 year old quay making a lovely spot for a morning stroll where you can watch the boats bobbing in the water, followed by a hearty brunch in one of the waterside eateries, or pick up some produce from one of the local shops to enjoy a home-cooked breakfast back at the cottage. Visit the town's famed Newlyn School of Art where you can take a course on how to best capture the beautiful landscapes of the area or join either the Cornwall Coastal Path or the Mousehole to Marazion Cycle Path passing through to explore the wonder of the coast up close, with wildlife such as sharks, dolphins, and grey seals to spot too. The beach is within walking distance too for those seeking a traditional seaside experience, while Penwith is the perfect place for watersports and surf fishing for sea bass. The charming village of Mousehole is within walking distance too boasting its own picturesque harbour, while a short drive will bring you to St Ives with its famed Tate Museum, Barbara Hepworth Museum and Sculpture Garden, the spectacular St Ives Head and so much more. For an unforgettable stay on the Cornish coast, there's no better choice than Bodilly’s Cottage for your scenic escape.

Nestled next to Penzance, and although still a quaint town in its own right, Newlyn is actually the third largest fishing port in England, and an important Port of Refuge for all seafaring craft. This Cornish town is clustered around the harbour, with its historic 800 year old quay (the Mayflower actually left for America from this quay, not Plymouth) curling around a few small boats on the western side. Famous for the Newlyn school of Art and Newlyn Copper, the Cornwall Coastal Path passes through the town, as does the level Mousehole to Marazion cycle path. An abundance of wildlife and flora can be enjoyed along both, with basking sharks, dolphins and grey seals often seen. The Cornish coast is renowned for surfing, and Penwith offers some splendid beaches on which to enjoy this sport as well as surf fishing for sea bass. Mounts Bay also offers a wealth of opportunity for watersports enthusiasts as well as giving visitors an opportunity to relax and unwind in beautiful surroundings.

The beds were gloriously comfy after long days hiking the SWCP. Location is excellent as bus stop is just at the end of the lane. We found the cottage clean and warm, loved that we could boost the heat to dry some of our rainy gear on the radiator. We had a wonderful week and highly recommend!

The cottage was comfortable, clean and well equipped. The pleasant outside seating area is a bonus in these cottages. We found the nearby car park very convenient. We enjoyed our holiday very much.
