Situated just off a one way road road in the centre of Penzance and accessed via a passageway, is Dock Cottage, a charming fisherman's cottage boasting idyllic harbour views. This property is close to the bustling town centre and the train terminus making it easily accessible, but provides a peaceful setting with quaint coastal views and is ideal for a couple or small family wanting to enjoy a seaside break in Cornwall. Park your car in the designated off-road parking space, around 100 yards from the property, and walk down the charming passageway to access the cottage. Enter through the front door and discover a contemporary kitchen/diner, offering a neutral colour palette, wooden work tops and a lovely exposed stone wall, as well as being well-equipped for all of your culinary needs, while the cosy dining table is the perfect place to enjoy meals together. The ground-floor bedroom is an ideal place to catch some rest, with a small double (4ft) bed and ample storage space, served by the family bathroom, which offers a shower over bath, so you can choose how to prepare for each day. Alternatively, standard double bedroom rests on the first floor, with a feature stone wall and lovely harbour views, as well as a convenient en-suite shower room with lots of light coming through the Velux window. Outside is a patio area where you can further enjoy the harbour views, while just around the corner from the cottage is the main street of Penzance, home to a variety of independent stores and supermarkets, and several local pubs and restaurants that serve fine food and real Cornish ale. The picturesque harbour is a short walk away, ideal for strolls in the sunshine, where you can hop on a boat to discover the variety of marine life that inhabits the area, including dolphins and porpoises. Wildlife lovers will also appreciate a visit to Trewidden Garden, a 15-acre garden that was planted in the 19th century, filled with hundreds of different types of magnolias and camellias, with a tea room where you can enjoy a spot of lunch or pick up a gift for a loved one. Keen walkers can also enjoy easy access to the South West Coast Path, where you can soak up stunning coastal landscapes as you make your way along the clifftops towards Land's End, taking in stunning sights like Lamorna Cove, Gwennap Head and the fascinating open air Minnack Theatre. The closest beach is within walking distance and is perfect for a family day out sunbathing and swimming, while the art deco Jubilee Pool offers you an alternative swimming facility on a summer's day. Head to Penzance Ferry terminal and access nearby Marazion by boat, with a host of charming sandy beaches and access to the National Trust's St Michael's Mount, with its hilltop castle and Mediterranean gardens, which can be reached at low tide via a causeway from the mainland. You can also enjoy a day trip to the Isles of Scilly, a stunning collection of islands, dotted with sandy beaches and covered in heathland. With so many walking and sight-seeing opportunities from your doorstep, Dock Cottage is a fantastic base for a coastal escape to Penzance.
