Guests say

Faraway Cottage in Penzance, Cornwall, is praised for its idyllic location, cosy atmosphere, and beautiful sea views. Guests appreciate the well-equipped kitchen, modern bathrooms, and the warmth provided by the open fire. The surrounding area offers wonderful walks and a peaceful retreat. However, some guests noted access issues due to an unmaintained lane and minor cleanliness concerns.

Most guests found the cottage clean and cosy, but there were mentions of cobwebs, a general smell of damp, and some untidiness with a dirty freezer and full ash collector. These issues suggest room for improvement in cleanliness.

The cottage's location is highly praised for its awe-inspiring views and peacefulness, with easy access to local walks and attractions. The only drawback mentioned is the challenging access lane.

Guests report the cottage as warm and comfortable, with a particularly comfortable bed, although there was a negative comment about hard pillows. Overall, the comfort level is deemed high.

The facilities are generally well-regarded, with a well-equipped kitchen and modern bathrooms. However, some small maintenance issues and the condition of the access lane have been noted.

While guests have mentioned appreciating various aspects of their stay, there is no specific mention of gifts or special touches that would fall under the category of thoughtfulness. Therefore, a score cannot be provided.

However, the cleanliness was lacking. Cobwebs, general smell of damp. The front of the house as you approach is green with algae which could be washed off. The freezer was dirty with previous guests bits of food in it. The hamper was crawling with little tiny insects of some kind. The ash collector for the fire was full to the brim. The bins were full of beer bottles. So despite the magnificent location, the presentation of the accommodation was poor. The track up to the cottage needs attention, it's getting to the point that only 4x4 vehicles are suitable.

Bed extremely comfortable but pillows were rock hard. After a pretty much sleepless night and headache from the pillow I felt the pillows in the other bedroom and, fortunately, the last one I felt was soft. This saved driving home (also Cornwall) to collect my own. Thus, unless potential bookers like hard pillows, I’d suggest taking your own. Fabulous walking from the door and we look forward to staying at this gem again.
