Guests say

Sennen Heights in Penzance, Cornwall, offers stunning views and a peaceful atmosphere, with guests praising its location and the breathtaking scenery. The apartment is well-regarded for its modern amenities and proximity to local attractions. However, some guests noted issues with cleanliness and maintenance, and the numerous steep steps to access the property may not suit everyone. Despite this, many visitors enjoyed their stay and the thoughtful touches provided.

Guests have had mixed experiences with cleanliness. Some found the apartment to be clean and welcoming, while others reported the need to clean upon arrival and mentioned issues such as dust and unpleasant odours. The inconsistency suggests room for improvement in the cleaning regime.

The location is highly praised for its stunning views and proximity to the beach and coastal paths. The picturesque setting and local amenities contribute to a positive experience, although the challenging access due to steep steps has been noted.

The apartment is generally considered comfortable, with a particularly comfy bed and a cosy atmosphere. However, some guests mentioned issues with the mattress and the challenge of the steps, which impacted the overall comfort for those with mobility issues.

Facilities are seen as adequate, with a well-appointed kitchen and good-quality towels. However, maintenance issues like non-working lightbulbs, broken cutlery, and problematic WiFi have been reported. The lack of an oven was also a concern for some guests.

Several guests appreciated the thoughtful touches such as a welcome pack with scones, jam, and cream, as well as fresh flowers. These gestures contributed positively to their experience, although it is noted that such gifts are not guaranteed for all stays.

About this property

This coastal bolthole for couples has jaw-dropping 180 degree views over Sennen Cove and the sea is right in front of you, just stunning! It's takes just minutes to decend on foot from the lofty Sennen Heights to the long stretch of sandy beach and the charming harbour. This is a magical setting, perched aloft and set into the rugged hillside and facing seaward, guests will admire the views over Whitesands Bay to Cape Cornwall on the horizon and as far as the Isles of Scilly on clear days. Ample for two, the accommodation includes an open plan living room with a fitted kitchen, a double bedroom with a super king size bed, a walk in shower that is large enough for two and a separate WC.

All rooms have sea views (even the loo)! Sit in the bay window in the open plan living room and gaze out to sea. Watch the fishing boats come and go. Spot sea birds, seals and dolphins. Marvel at big skies and golden sunsets, this modern apartment is sublime at any time of year. Sennen is a traditional fishing village with a pub, cafe, beachside restaurant, fish and chip shop, art gallery, ice cream parlour and convenience store but Whitsands Bay beach is the main attraction. Book a surf lesson, swim off the white sands or hire a boat and explore the coast from the water.

It is a great escape for long walks and dogs are welcome too! Access onto the south west coast path is within moments. Head along soaring cliff tops to Land's End, Porthcurno and The Minack, Cornwall's famous open-air cliff-top theatre. Buzzing St Ives, St Just and Penzance with more galleries, shops, restaurants and pubs are within a short drive.

The small fishing village of Sennen Cove is situated close to Land’s End in Cornwall. The village has a lifeboat station, church, a couple of shops, a café plus two popular gastropubs. The town of St Just is the nearest town to Land’s End and has several monument and prehistoric antiquities, including a Bronze Age settlement at Cape Cornwall. The town also has a town hall, a church, shops and pubs, and Plain-an-Gwarry, a theatre used for miracle plays in medieval times. Porthcorno, which has the outdoor Minack Theatre is situated 5 miles away. The village of Mousehole is within a short drive where stargazy pie can be sampled. The property has been freshly painted and updated in the last year, which made a noticeable difference. While the general maintenance and cleaning could be a bit more thorough—such as the kitchen door needing attention and some hard-to-reach areas being overlooked—the property is still in great shape overall. The views from every window are spectacular, and we loved watching the waves and tide change during the day and stargazing at night. The apartment is well-equipped with everything you need for a comfortable stay, and its location—close to the beach, coastal path, cove, and town—is unbeatable. Will we be back? Absolutely!

It was lovely to have basic provisions like milk in the fridge. The bed could do with a mattress topper on it as it was not comfortable. I think the description of the steps needs to have more emphasis on how challenging they are. We're relatively fit but we struggled, especially bringing up our luggage. Access from the rear is even more challenging. There is a very unpleasant smell of damp all along the corridor that leads to the front door of the apartment. 10am check out is early given the negotiation of all the steps with luggage so we chose to leave on the Thursday. Potential customers should be made away that to park in the Harbour car park it will cost £9.00 per 24 hours. Will would not book this apartment again due to the challenge of parking and steps. Sennen is a beautiful location!
