About this property

Scilly Stack is a charming and compact coastal retreat, tucked away in a peaceful clifftop hamlet above Cape Cornwall — England’s only Cape — on the outskirts of St Just. Set within an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and a World Heritage Site, with rare breed cattle grazing the surrounding farmland, the landscape is truly unforgettable.

With its attractive stone exterior, nearby beaches, and sweeping sea and countryside views, Scilly Stack provides a wonderful retreat for couples looking to explore the far west of Cornwall. Arrive, breathe in the fresh Atlantic air, and step into a bright open-plan living space with slate flooring and thoughtfully chosen interiors designed for relaxed coastal living.

The well-equipped kitchen is perfect for preparing hearty meals after a day outdoors, while the breakfast bar offers a sunny spot for a morning coffee before setting off to explore. In the evening, the inviting sitting area and woodburning stove create a cosy space to unwind. When night falls, refresh in the contemporary walk-in shower before retreating to the comfortable king-size bedroom for a restful night’s sleep.

Outside, the seating area is ideal for slow mornings and relaxed evenings, whether enjoying breakfast in the sunshine or a glass of wine as the sun sets. The wood-fired Italian pizza oven is a fantastic feature of the property and perfect for laid-back evenings after a day on the beach or coastal path.

A short walk from the cottage, Cape Cornwall is one of the most dramatic stretches of coastline in the country, where the Celtic Sea meets the English Channel.

Footpaths from the doorstep lead northeast towards St Ives via Cornwall’s iconic mining landscape, or southwest towards Land's End past magnificent sandy beaches including Gwynver and Sennen.

St Just town centre is less than a mile away and offers a lively mix of traditional pubs, cafés, bakeries, galleries, and independent shops. If you visit in July, you may even catch Lafrowda Day, the town’s much-loved arts and music festival.

The nearby harbour town of Penzance is perfectly placed for further exploring west Cornwall, with attractions including St Michael's Mount, Tremenheere Sculpture Gardens, and the geothermal Jubilee Pool.

From there, stroll along the promenade to Newlyn, renowned for its seafood and fishing heritage, or continue to the picturesque village of Mousehole.

Guests are also welcome to meet the farmer and visit the award-winning rare breed cattle grazing the surrounding land.

Scilly Stack forms part of a collection with The Riblows, See Two Seas, and The Wink, offering flexible accommodation for up to 18 guests in a variety of configurations — ideal for larger family gatherings and multi-generational stays.

Penzance hosts Golowan, the Midsummer Carnival, and The Literary Festival. There are also The Exchange, Newlyn and Penlee Art Galleries. One of Cornwall’s most popular holiday areas is the spectacular sweep of Mount’s Bay, from the cliffside fishing village of Mousehole through Penzance and around to beautiful Marazion, the coastline hides a wealth of sandy beaches, rocky coves as well as winding village streets and other places to visit and explore. Connected by a causeway to the shore at Marazion is the National Trust’s stunningly beautiful St Michael’s Mount with its hilltop castle and Mediterranean gardens. Walk across at low water and take one of the ferry boats back when the tide is up. Penzance with its winding streets, shops, clubs, restaurants and harbour is a must as it is the jumping-off point for day trips to the Isles of Scilly as well as being the harbour. The South West Coast Path passing through Penzance winds its way along the clifftops towards Land’s End. On the way, stop off for a coffee and a rest at beautiful Lamorna Cove, explore the open air Minack Theatre and marvel at the cliffs as you approach Gwennap Head. A stunning walk for those seeking solitude, exercise and some of the UK’s best coastal scenery. Penzance is the perfect holiday base. Ideally placed for exploring this land of Celtic myth and legend and with enough to do and see in the immediate area to keep all the family occupied.
