Tucked away in the village of St Hilary, in the Mounts Bay area, is this idyllic 18th century cottage. Less than 2 miles from the coast and close to the popular resort of Marazion, The Thatched Cottage makes an excellent base for families or group of friends. Boasting traditional features, including exposed beams and granite hearth, this charming cottage invites you inside into the cosy sitting room, where you can rest on the plush sofas after a walk in the countryside. The cottage has a well-equipped kitchen overlooking the rear yard and surrounding fields, where you can prepare hearty meals to serve in the dining room.

The former mining village of St. Hilary is situated at the heart of the Mounts Bay area at the very foot of Cornwall, 3 miles from the sandy beach at Marazion, with its instantly recognisable landmark St Michael's Mount. It was very well equipped with everything you could need . It was very cosy and comfortable and we really enjoyed our stay there. It was a good location for our favourite beaches, Sennen and Porthcurno, Kynance Cove . St Ives is not far and has Porthminster and Carbis bay as good beaches . The train at St Earth to St Yves is well worth it. We were given good warning about the reverse parking at the cottage . We had a large estate car and found it easy to park .We would definitely recommend this charming cottage.

To the east, Lands End and the Geevor Tin Mine or Minack Theatre are easily accessible. The Park and Ride to St Ives Tate is a short drive. A little further away but we got to the castle in Falmouth and the National Maritime Museum to the west too. The cottage itself needs a little TLC. There were a few plumbing issues - none major that can't be sorted, but they do need sorting. Also three of us found small nails poking up through the stair carpets from the gripper boards. We recommend wearing slippers. We called up Sykes the Friday before we left and gave them a list. That said, none of it spoiled the holiday. The children appreciated the chocolate cake and our 7 year old loved the nice white cottage with the thatched roof, just like Milly Molly Mandy's in the stories.

It is located in a small village with some amenities including pubs, a team room and a small shop. All the amenities you need are present in the house and consistent with the description. For people with a dust allergy, the house is less suitable. Just like for people who are taller than 178, they have to go through the living room hunched over because of the low ceiling and cannot stretch out in bed.
