Wheal Holan is a well-received cottage in Penzance, praised for its cleanliness, comfort, and modern amenities while retaining its character. Its location is ideal for exploring Cornwall's rugged beauty, with guests appreciating the local pub and nearby attractions. The property provides a homely and welcoming atmosphere, with thoughtful touches like a welcome wine.
The property is generally regarded as extremely clean and comfortable. One review mentioned the need to hoover upon arrival due to sand and dirt, suggesting a minor oversight rather than a trend. Overall, the high standards of cleanliness are acknowledged.
The cottage's location is highly praised for being perfect, with its proximity to local attractions and ease of access to both Penzance and St Ives. The central location is appreciated for exploring the surrounding areas and its closeness to a well-liked local pub.
Guests find the cottage to be roomy, comfortable, and well-equipped, making it a home away from home. The beds and living space are specifically mentioned for their comfort, contributing to an enjoyable stay.
The property is updated with modern 'tech' and provides ample amenities, though some guests noted the absence of a dishwasher and suggested a deep clean for certain areas. The presence of a powerful shower and other conveniences are positive aspects, but minor maintenance points prevent a perfect score.
The property is noted for thoughtful additions such as a picnic basket, paddle boards, and beach towels. A welcome gift of wine is mentioned, which adds a personal touch, although such gifts are not guaranteed for every stay.
