Guests say

The Gables is a charming and well-appointed cottage in Gorran Haven, praised for its superb location just moments from the beach and close to local amenities. Guests consistently highlight its cleanliness, comfort, and thoughtful touches, such as welcome packs. The cottage is ideal for a relaxing seaside break, with friendly locals and a peaceful atmosphere. While parking is not on-site and the nearest pub is a drive away, the proximity to the beach and village facilities more than make up for these minor inconveniences.

Guests frequently mention the property is very clean and tidy, with only occasional minor issues such as a few cobwebs or a curling rug. Overall, cleanliness is a strong point.

The location is repeatedly described as outstanding, with immediate access to the beach, village amenities, and beautiful coastal scenery. The only drawback noted is the lack of on-site parking and distance to the nearest pub.

Reviewers find the cottage comfortable and quiet, with attention to detail such as different pillow types and a good range of toys and games for children. The peaceful setting adds to the comfort.

Facilities are generally praised, with guests noting the cottage is well-equipped for families and has all the basics needed. Minor suggestions include a salad spinner and a safer hall rug.

Guests appreciate thoughtful touches like welcome packs, milk, biscuits, and a range of games for children. Please note that such gifts are not guaranteed for every stay.

After unloading, return to public car park approx. 300 yds going back up hill to your right. There is parking at the side of the house for a small car, but it is quite a tight squeeze and manoeuvring safely is difficult. It is also compromised weekly when enough space is required to get 4 wheelie bins past a parked car.

There are low banisters at the property.

There are large gaps between banister spindles.

Suitable for up to 1 pet

Great property and stunning location in a beautiful Cornish coastal village. Sea view from the living room, and easy access down the lane to the beach, ideal for our old dog who doesn’t like to walk too far!Great too for the coastal path and the Mermaids beach cafe and chip shop/cafe - and the cod and chips was AMAZING!A few limitations too though - this is rural/south Cornwall, so be prepared for small lanes and you’ll need to travel for provisions….although you can always combine these trips with other beach outings. Otherwise it’s off to St Austell. Also not ideal if you need to park at the property (as only space for a small car), although there’s easy turning/drop-off by the chippy. Would be difficult for less able-bodied visitors due to 5 min walk to/from main village car-park (Reasonable at £35 for 7 day parking)Despite these added complications, we’ll still look to come back again.

Lovely cottage in an ideal location for the beach. Village quiet and quaint and the locals are friendly. Fish and chip shop is opposite and two cafes (one doubles up as a shop and post office) in the village open daytime. If you’re looking for a pub for an evening the nearest one is just over 1/2 hour walk away on country roads with no pavements or street lighting, not as easy as the listing makes it sound. The cottage itself is comfortable and has the basics you need, you can see the sea from the bay window. We were left some milk in the fridge and some biscuits when we arrived. My only small critique is that they were a few cobwebs here and there and some of the guest info was out of date but if we ever came back to the area again we would definitely look for The Gables again.

We returned for another excellent holiday right by the beach in Gorran Haven. The cottage is very comfortable and the owner has tried to provide everything that you might need.It is the superb location that makes it special . Moments away from the beach, a first-class chippy, a good local shop and two great beachside cafes. The price you pay for the location is that there is no on-site parking. The village car park however is just a few minutes walk away.
