About this property

Rocklings is a delightful detached self -catering holiday house peacefully tucked away at the end of a quiet private lane. Rocklings is perfectly suited to a large family, sleeping six guests in three bedrooms with two bathrooms. The interior will appeal to nautical types with its sea blues and themed bathrooms. Homely touches such as the charming patchwork quilts on the beds all contrive to make you feel quite at home. The pretty main bedroom has a king sized bed and the two further ones are twin bedded. The well-designed sitting room with dining area flows towards a balcony, with elevated countryside views. Sunbathing and meals can also be enjoyed on the sheltered decking area.Ideally situated to take advantage of all the joys of the wonderful Camel estuary and within striking distance of North Cornwall's best surf beaches, golf courses and stunning coastal paths. A wander down through the fields will find you on the peaceful, unspoilt cove of Porthilly, perfect for bird watching and paddling, while children will love to dam the little stream that flows down to the sea. Surfers will want to drive the couple of miles around to Polzeath to indulge in the surf village lifestyle and brave the rolling waves. Sailors can walk round to the sailing club or ski school at Rock and have a go at any of the water sports available there. Children and adults alike will appreciate the ferry ride over to the fishing port of Padstow and the chance to browse some different shops, cafes and art galleries and sample a pasty. Having Rocklings to return after your busy day, will be peace of mind for you.

Rock is a desirable and much sought after coastal village located on the north eastern bank of the River Camel opposite the famous harbour town of Padstow which is easily reached by a regular ferry service. The summer home of royalty and celebrities offering top class restaurants and quality shops, the real draw is the array of watersports including sailing, water skiing, windsurfing and angling. Continuing on a sporting theme, the golf course at nearby St Enodoc is considered to be one of the best in the country. With an abundance of world class beaches all within a short radius it is easy to see why Rock holds its popularity.

It’s such a comfortable house and perfect for dogs with a utility room for those wet days or beach runs. Its situation means we can leave the car and enjoy all the wonderful walks in the surrounding area and of course the shops are nearby. Two lovely pubs also within walking distance and of course the ferry for Padstow.

The kitchen was brilliantly equipped which is fairly unusual for a typical holiday let but it made a big difference. There were plenty of utensils and plates as well so we did not need to put the dishwasher on after every meal. The upside down living was also very enjoyable as we had some fantastic views from the sitting room over the valley. Very quiet and peaceful.

Would stay here again. The only thing I would say is that the place has too much stuff in it; seemed every surface had some kind of knickknack on it, there were mobiles hanging everywhere (if I ever see a string of hanging shells again I’ll scream) and things like lampshades and table lamps were just way too big. If you watch “sort your life out”, Stacey Solomon always says clear out half your stuff; it would probably be nearer to three quarters there, and it wouldn’t detract from the seaside theme. As much as anything it would probably make the place easier to clean (that’s why I marked it down on this). It won’t stop us from staying there again, but I probably wouldn’t go with young children I because I would worry about them breaking something.
