Very nice cosy & comfrtable cottage tucked away in a quiet & peaceful spot. Easy to get to plenty of lovely quiet beaches and attractions close by.It was my first visit to Cornwall and I couldn't have picked a better location that was close to things I wanted to see and do but was still secluded and peaceful.

Roseland retreat is a lovely cottage situated on a quiet lane in Philleigh. It is full of character, well equipped and the bed is very comfy. The hosts live opposite and are extremely friendly. They provided a fantastic welcome pack of milk, bread, tea, jam, biscuits and even a bottle of fizz! The area is quite rural which we loved but there are lots of places nearby to visit. We enjoyed walks on the coastal footpath and on the Fal estuary. The Eden project and The Lost gardens of Helligan are only a 40 minute drive. There are several great pubs nearby -the food at The Standard is fabulous. We would recommend staying in this cottage and enjoying a beautiful unspoilt part of Cornwall

There are certain places in Cornwall that make you wonder if the rest of Britain has somehow been arranged incorrectly. The Roseland Peninsula is one of them. It feels less like a destination and more like a pleasant oversight - a forgotten corner where life proceeds at a slower, more agreeable pace, and where even the seagulls seem too relaxed to bother stealing your chips. Roseland Retreat is a wonderfully comfortable cottage tucked away among the Roseland’s winding lanes and hedgerows, and it was exactly the sort of place we were hoping for as an escape from modern life. It had everything you could possibly need for a fantastic holiday, from a properly equipped kitchen to a very comfortable bed and a brilliant shower. The cottage managed that rare trick of feeling both immaculately prepared and entirely homely, as though a particularly organised friend had lent you their house for the week. Our hosts, Julia and Mickey, had thoughtfully provided an excellent welcome pack. Ours included tasty Cornish treats alongside the essential civilising staples of bread, milk and eggs. After a long drive, discovering these waiting for you feels less like hospitality and more like a small act of national kindness. The location was superb, particularly if you enjoy walking, staring at the sea, or simply standing on cliffs thinking profound thoughts about sandwiches. The South West Coast Path is nearby and provides one absurdly beautiful view after another - rugged cliffs, hidden coves, and glittering, crystal-clear water. One of the highlights of the holiday was a walk to picturesque Porthcurnick Beach. Perched just above it is the Hidden Hut, where we had an absolutely delicious lunch. There are few greater pleasures in life than eating excellent food after a coastal walk while looking out at the Cornish sea and pretending, however briefly, that this might simply be your normal daily routine. All in all, it was a marvellous stay - comfortable, peaceful and full of the sort of small pleasures that Cornwall seems to specialise in.
