With the best of both worlds, Skylark nestles within the Camel Valley, surrounded by woodland, rolling countryside, starry nights and magical wildlife; yet the idyllic beaches of both north and south Cornwall are all in easy striking distance.
This single-storey, barn was converted in 2024/25 with exceptional attention to detail and love into a two bedroom, two bathroom retreat; designed to make the spectacular views of the Camel Valley the star of the show. Turn off the main road and meander down a mile long track into a world of peace and tranquillity.
The open-plan living area provides a wonderful sense of space and light, with a double height ceiling, exposed beams and brickwork and characterful slate window sills and oak doors throughout. The bi-folding doors are the focal point of the space, and frame a mesmerising view of the breath-taking Camel Valley. There's plenty of room for enjoying cosy times in the sitting area; meals around the table; and a fabulous kitchen area for your very own Cornish creations.
A generous hallway with slate flooring and plenty of storage leads to the bedrooms, the first of which is a comfy king, with its own en-suite shower room. Bedroom two has the flexibility of zip-and-link-beds providing either twin single beds or a luxurious super-king size bed, with use of the family bathroom, making Skylark a perfect choice for friends and families alike.
Slide open the bi-folding doors to a pretty brick patio area, complete with rattan style comfy outdoor furniture and a charcoal barbecue. Don't forget your binoculars, the views are magical; as are the visiting skylarks, swallows and buzzards, who often circle overhead.
The charming market town of Wadebridge is just over 10 minutes drive away. The spectacular north and south coasts are both within easy reach, with the beaches of Rock, Polzeath and Trebarwith Strand to the north, and the harbours of Fowey, Mevagissey and Trelissick to the south. Gorgeous cottage in a lovely location, a real home from home, we could literally move in without changing a single thing! Well equipped and very comfortable accommodation. Mark the owner who happened to be on site the day we arrived was friendly and welcoming and also available on the phone if we had needed him. Would stay here again quite happily.

Skylark is well planed for up to 2 couples. Its very well equiped, comfy and very well looked after. It is a bit isolated and therefore wonderfully peacefull. The air is clean and fresh. A welcome basket is provided .. tea, coffee, milk, biscuits, crisps, fudge and Elderflower Sirup. Parking is ample for 2 cars. There is a laundry near and ready for use, equiped with washing mashine and dryer. The one disadvantage is the mile (1.6 km) long farm track leading to the cottage. It is partially concreted, but other parts are rough and a "low slung" car may have difficulties, or if you tend to travel sickness, perhaps another venue may be more suitable. The cottage is very well lit, but an extra torch may be an idea. There is an outdoor light next to the cottage door, but to get something from the car or for use of the laundry an extra light comes in handy. In Wadebridge there is a good bakery/cafe (serves breakfast and small lunches too) and a Tesco supermarket. It is advisable to get food stocks in e.g. bread, butter etc before you arrive at Skylark otherwise you have to drive back along the farm track to reach the shops. We met the owner Mark on our last evening there and he kindly helped sort out a communication problem we had with Rural Retreats (Thank you!).

We had a wonderful stay at the recently renovated Skylark Barn. Mark the owner was very friendly and welcoming. The barn has been renovated to a very high standard and the furnishings were beautiful. The living room was very light and airy with sliding glass doors going out into the garden with lovely garden furniture for our sole use. The bed was super comfy. The Barn is just outside Wadebridge with lots of walks or rent a bicycle and do the Camel Trail to either Padstow one way and Bodmin the other. Lots of places within a short distance to visit. Our furthest was Lands End, it took us an hour. Tintagel Castle was 30 minutes drive. Wadebridge also has a very good bus service if you want to have a day off driving, also lots of cafe’s, pubs and restaurants. Overall within easy reach to every corner in North Cornwall. There is also nice woodland walks around the barn so you can stay close and have a day off. I would recommend Skylark we loved it and will definitely come back Thank you Mark for a lovely stay George and Evelyn
