Resting in attractive gardens, is this elegantly presented bungalow, The Orangery. Perfect for couples looking for a romantic bolthole, the property benefits from a secluded rural location and yet is just a short distance from Axminster and other towns in the region. Inside, the accommodation is well presented and is warm and welcoming, inviting guests into the stylish open-plan living space. The sitting area has ample seating and feature picture windows offering lovely views over the gardens and leading off from here is the elegant dining area, all set up ready for romantic, candlelit meals for two. Talking of meals, step into the compact but comprehensively equipped kitchen which has everything you need to rustle up some delicious cuisine for your loved one.
If the sun is shining (as it does a lot in Devon!) then open the doors and step outside to the patio area where you can enjoy drinking and dining alfresco while soaking up the views of those gorgeous gardens. When night descends, the bedroom offers a relaxing sanctuary and has charming picture windows overlooking the gardens, making it a wonderful place to lay your weary head and to wake up to in the morning. Hop into the refreshing shower in the morning and you’re good to go, ready to explore the myriad delights Devon has to offer. The Orangery is just a few minutes from both Axminster and Lyme Regis and visiting both of these places is a must; Axminster with its idyllic setting on the River Axe, weekly market and quaint shops and restaurants and Lyme Regis with its harbour, beaches and causeway as well as museum and aquarium.
If you’re after a scenic drive, then there are so many places to head off to it’s hard to know where to begin. A day at the beach is a must so check out Charmouth, West Bay, Lulworth Cove and Seatown with attractions such as Burrow Farm Gardens, Seaton Tramway, Little Orchard Alpacas, Trinity Hill Nature Reserve and Axe Valley Wildlife Park also popular. Small but perfectly formed, The Orangery is the perfect romantic destination.
The lovely market town of Axminster has been made famous by the well-known organic shop and canteen in the area, which were introduced by TV presenter Hugh Fearnley-Whittingstall. Nestled in outstanding peaceful countryside, Axminster is certainly a place to relax and unwind. Famous for its carpets, which are often likened to Turkish examples, it is one of Devon’s prettiest smaller towns. Situated on the River Axe and within easy reach of both the West Dorset and East Devon Jurassic Coast, Axminster has many attractions, including plenty of privately owned shops, a weekly market and excellent old inns, with one dating back 100 years with its own resident ghost! With beautiful views on offer and the National Trust properties of Shute Barton and Loughwood Meeting House close by, Axminster is a must to visit.

Taking a torch is essential as the outside light and driveway lights were not working.

With places like Lyme Regis, Seaton and Sidmouth a short ride away there was plenty to keep us occupied. To be able to our 2 border collies with us was an added bonus. My husband has already said would like to go again.

Right next to the paddock , which our dogs loved , saw deer in there which was wonderful . So quiet and peaceful , made a great base to travel and see the sights .the bungalow has everything you need , and is lovely and cosy when itâs a bit cool !.Lyme Regis is wonderful , only 10 minutes drive away ! And Charmouth , with its wonderful dog friendly beach , and we found some fossils ! It was a lovely holiday , even though the weather wasnât the best , we made the most of our stay , and would definitely go back !
