You are within walking distance of the charming village of Dalwood which has some outstanding countryside views as well as a popular, traditional village pub. Hop in the car for a scenic drive to some of the region’s most popular attractions which include Sidmouth Donkey Sanctuary, Seaton Tramway, Beer Quarry Caves, Abbotsbury Subtropical Gardens and Forde Abbey House and Gardens. If you fancy a day at the beach then some of Devon’s finest beaches are not far; try Charmouth, Seatown, Lyme Regis and Chesil and see if you can collect some fossils to take home. The Cider House is the apple of any visitor’s eye and is well worth a visit.

The lovely market town of Axminster has been made famous by the well-known organic shop and canteen in the area, which were introduced by TV presenter Hugh Fearnley-Whittingstall. Nestled in outstanding peaceful countryside, Axminster is certainly a place to relax and unwind.

Thoughtfully equipped throughout. Cosy and warm ... even though it was (mostly) a cold, windy March outside. Very peaceful. Streamside walks straight from the door. Dalwood is ten minutes away that way ... where the Tuckers Arms is a delight. The food there is exceptional quality and value. Jurassic Coast is twenty minutes away by car. Would recommend.

The narrow lanes seem to regulate the pace of life. No boy racers here! The Cider House is set in peaceful countryside behind a once working farm and what hits you immediately is the silence. Once darkness falls a glance up to the night sky takes your breath away. The house has a pleasant atmosphere and is comfortable but take sundries such as salt and pepper with you. The village boasts a Community Shop which is rather expensive but has some little gems, such as delicious dry cured bacon. The nearest supermarket is 5 miles away in Axminster. The village pub, The Tuckers Arms, is warm and welcoming and serves good food but be sure to book a table. Nearby Lyme Regis (9 miles) is good for seafood but don’t expect too much from Honiton Market (it may be better in season, but our visit on an October Tuesday had three stalls). It’s hard to see how anyone can fail to enjoy their stay at the Cider House. We had a super time.
