About this property

Settled in a fabulous location moments away from the beach in Hele Bay, Devon is Beach Road House. This idyllic dwelling benefits from an off-road parking space, which is rare in this popular coastal village, three beautifully-appointed bedrooms, a welcoming interior with original features and a fantastic location in Exmoor National Park with easy access to the beauty of both coast and countryside; the perfect setting for families or friends looking to explore all Devon has to offer. Cross the threshold into your new home-from-home and head through the cosy living room into the fully-equipped kitchen/diner where you can rustle up hearty meals for the whole family to be enjoyed upon the dining table or out the front on the patio; an idyllic place to watch the sun set behind the rooftops. When the sky darkens, snuggle up with your loved ones on the plush sofas in front of the warmth of the electric flame-effect stove before climbing the stairs to wash off the day’s adventure in the family bathroom. Then be sure to catch up on some well-earned rest in one of three well-appointed bedrooms; choose between a king-size, a double and a custom built bunk with 2 standard single beds. During the day, pack up your beach essentials and take the short walk down to Hele Beach where you can while away sunny days exploring the rock pools lining the shore or splashing around in the sea. Follow the South West Coast Path to explore the Hillsborough Nature Reserve before arriving in Ilfracombe, home to hidden coves, Ilfracombe Museum, the stunning harbour, restaurants including Giovanni & Luca and even boat trips out onto the open water to spot local wildlife! Venture further inland to explore the wonders of Exmoor National Park where keen ramblers can traverse the myriad of walks and trails woven throughout, alternatively, immerse yourself in the past at the impressive Dunster Castle, take in the breath-taking scenery Cow Castle and Webers Post or spend the day admiring wildlife in Exmoor Zoological and Conservation Centre. All this and more awaits at Beach Road House.

Located on the beautiful North Devon Coast, not far from the thriving seaside resort of Ilfracombe, is the little fishing community of Hele Bay. There's a lovely tearoom, a gorgeous cove beach with rock pools that wouldn't be out of place in a foreign country, and two pubs (the Madrigal Brewery Shop & Tap Room and The Hele Bay Pub) where you can sample the local ales. Visit Ilfracombe to learn about the area's past at the Ilfracombe Museum, go on a charter fishing excursion out of the harbour, take in breath-taking views from atop Capstone Hill, or stroll along the town's excellent sandy beaches and discover secluded coves. Within easy reach are the hidden gems of Combe Martin Wildlife & Dinosaur Park, Barle Valley, and Heddon's Mouth, not to mention the numerous magnificent walking and cycling routes that wind through the Dunkery & Horner Wood National Nature Reserve.

It was warm and cosy for a winter break, very clean, well equipped and well presented. The goodies you left were very welcoming and the dogs loved the treats almost as much as the beach! We will return. :-)

Unfortunatley the property is let down by inferior cleaning and upkeep: leaking dishwasher, drinking glasses so smeared had to be washed before use, dirty windows, overgrown front hedges, patio area unswept. The management agency are clearly not inspecting the property. However, if improvements are made I would consider rebooking.

.floorboards creaked in bedroom every time you walked on them, beds uncomfortable, fire wouldn’t light, fan in bathroom leaked, shrubs at the front steps overgrown so wet you when you walked past.
