Guests say

Mad Nelly Cottage in Totnes offers a peaceful countryside experience with welcoming hosts. Guests appreciate the on-site pool, games room, and local attractions. The cottage is well-equipped, though some areas require attention. It's ideal for families and pet-friendly.

Most guests found the cottage clean and well-supplied. However, there were mentions of a dirty stove top, cutlery drawers, and kitchen range controls, which slightly lowers the score.

The location is praised for being peaceful and close to beaches, towns, and attractions. It's also noted for being dog-friendly and having open spaces.

The cottage is generally seen as comfortable and spacious. However, some guests mentioned the need for new mattresses and additional blankets, which suggests room for improvement in comfort.

Facilities like the pool, games room, and electric bikes are highlights, but some guests noted the need for TLC in the games room and pool maintenance. The lack of instructions for heating and appliances also affects this score.

While guests have not mentioned specific gifts, they have appreciated the host's thoughtfulness in accommodating requests. However, due to the lack of references to gifts, this score must be set to null.

The cottage was very clean apart from the controls of the kitchen range which was covered in grease. The range needs updating as all the pictures to show you what controls what have been rubbed off. This makes it tricky to use. And there are no instructions. The swimming pool was lovely to have but needed clearing. The edges were green. Our lights upstairs went off twice. There are no contact details for an emergency so I found a number that's provided when booking which is no longer connected! I then googled the farm and managed to find a number so it was sorted but that needs to be looked at.

We stayed over Christmas & enjoyed it , it’s quirky which we liked, the living room & bedroom (with en-suite facilities ) downstairs was lovely. The dining area was nice & rustic which gives it character . The kitchen needs some tlc (although we managed to cook a lovely Christmas dinner in there despite being small) as does the upstairs bedrooms which now look a bit tired. Due to the time of year there were a couple of issues that wouldn’t have been a problem in the summer . The heating was on a set timer in morning & afternoon n did leave the cottage quite cold between these hours . We used the log burner to help with this issue but it would have been very expensive to keep it going all day (no logs provided or sold on site) . The bedding was also not adequate being a thin mid season duvet with no blankets provided. The TV downstairs in the living room is free view only (luckily we saw this on another review & took our fire stick) the tv in the main bedroom upstairs is also freeview & very small (these are the only two TVs) . We used the games room & pool which was fun but again needs some tlc . Over all we had an enjoyable stay for a reasonable price .
