Steam trains travel from Kingswear to Paignton and Totnes to Buckfastleigh. Visit historic Dartmouth with bustling boat harbour, castle, contemporary art galleries and boutiques. Salcombe with its beaches, sailing and watersports is also easily accessible, as well as Blackpool Sands, Slapton and picturesque Dittisham with its annual crab catching competition. Slightly further afield, East Cornwall and the Eden Project are within an hour’s drive, and the East Devon coast is easily accessible with its unique fishing port at Beer and beaches at Sidmouth and Branscombe. We had a fantastic time at Rook. There is a little community feel about the group of cottages, the pool and games room is a brilliant bonus. My son loved kicking a ball around on the green. Hosts Lynn & Glyn are very easy to get hold of and supportive with anything. The pool is a really good size, very clean, including shower and toilets too which is great. The location, 20mins from Paignton is a good location in the general scheme of the Uk as the Riviera is all lovely with loads of things to do. The roads are a bit windy to get to the property, but that’s natural for Devon, Tesco deliver and you quickly get used to it. I’d certainly recommend this place and may well visit again.
