This renovated, detached barn conversion is beautifully furnished and sits beside the owner’s 260-acre cattle and sheep farm within the Hartland Peninsula. The property features granite worktops in the kitchen and both bedrooms have a TV. This Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty is on the stunning North Devon Coast just 3 miles from the coastal path. You can stroll out direct from the farm on many circular coastal walks and enjoy stunning views of Welcombe and Welcombe Mouth. Conveniently placed on the Devon/Cornwall border, this is an ideal location for a seaside holiday. The coastline in both directions offers some of the most breathtaking scenery in the West Country and there are many long sandy beaches and hidden coves to explore.
Hartland village is just 3 miles away and has a good selection of village shops and pubs serving food. Bude, 13 miles, also has a variety of shops and restaurants, many specialising in locally caught seafood. There is also a golf course, indoor ‘Splash’ pool’, surf schools and bowling. The delightful port town of Bideford, 16 miles, has all town amenities, restaurants, a weekly market and boat trips to Lundy Island. Coastal walking, cycling, golf, riding, fishing, surfing and sailing are all available in this stunning area. Docton Mill, Hartland Quay and Hartland Abbey are close by along with many pretty fishing villages to explore including nearby Clovelly, Instow and Appledore. For family fun the Big Sheep and Milky Way Adventure parks are a must. Shop 3 miles, pub and restaurant 1½ miles.

We had an amazing Easter break at Swallows Retreat cottage. We stayed for a week at the beginning of April just as the clocks went forward so even though the weather was quite blustery and a little chilly, the beautiful serene surroundings , fresh air and the wonderful coastal walks was absolutely what we needed.The host Jacqui and her family were fantastic and had thought of everything to make the cottage as comfortable as possible and the whole property was very well furnished and more importantly the kitchen was well equipped too - with everything you could possibly need during your stay. Jacqui was welcoming and has a lovely personality and dealt with any query we had immediately,and at the end of the week I was sorry to leave and wished I had booked a longer break.During our stay we visited Hartland quay( Please do not miss this.The views are fab.) Bude, Barnstaple, few of the nearby beaches. If you like local produce visit the farmers markets on certain days. ( There are many brochures and visitors info. at the cottage). We loved every minute of our stay and can't wait to come back again. Thankyou to the Gorman family for the stay and we appreciated the lovely gesture of the welcome pack waiting for us in the cottage when we arrived.

What a fantastic Cottage and Host/Owner. It was great to know, Jacquie was always available, should there have been any further requirements. The property was warm, cosy, spotlessly clean, and provided an aura of relaxation and peace. Our week stay was just tranquility at its finest. Beautiful, comfortable high quality accommodation with lovely owner who was very helpful and made us feel very welcome. She even offered to come to find us when we were lost in horrendous rain and fog on our way there.The only downside is that being on a farm it’s off the beaten track and a car is a necessity.
