Guests say

Torridge Cottage in Torrington offers a comfortable and roomy stay with thoughtful touches from the hosts, set in a lovely rural location. It's an ideal central base for exploring, with facilities catering to those with mobility difficulties. Some attention to cleanliness and maintenance would enhance the experience.

Guests have noted issues with cleanliness, including dirty utensils and cobwebs, suggesting room for improvement in this area.

The property's remote rural setting is appreciated for its beauty, though the access via a potholed lane is a concern for some visitors.

The cottage is described as roomy and comfortable, with a special mention of its suitability for guests with mobility difficulties.

While the property is well-equipped and has facilities for those with mobility issues, there is insufficient information to fully assess the overall state of facilities and maintenance.

The hosts are commended for their friendliness and thoughtful gestures, such as providing a riser toilet seat. Elizabeth's honey is mentioned as a lovely touch, though such gifts should not be expected with every stay.

Crowbeare Farm is situated at the end of a private lane and adjacent to the owner’s home. These semi-detached holiday properties are set in a peaceful location, surrounded by fields and streams, but with the added advantage of being only a short distance from the historic town of Great Torrington. Taw (ref 31062) and Torridge (ref 31063) have been converted from the old milking parlour, with sympathetic conversion and decoration keeping all of the old stone and brick work on the outside as original as possible. Taw is the smaller of the two, with one galleried bedroom looking onto the fields. It is open plan, light and airy with a small south facing patio to sit and enjoy the view. Torridge has two bedrooms, one double with an additional single upstairs and twin zip and link beds downstairs. The ground is level from the parking area through into the kitchen, first bedroom and the living room. The downstairs bedroom is suitable for those with walking difficulties or those who use a wheelchair. It has an en-suite shower room and a door out onto the south-facing patio. The living room also has a ramp from the patio doors to the patio. Crowbeare Farm has a small herd of pedigree South Devon cows. They are a quiet, docile breed with each one having its own character. Early to late summer is when they have their calves. They are fascinating to watch and friendly. The cottages are located a short distance from the civil war town of Great Torrington. This has a good range of shops and amenities, as well as the 1644 visitor centre, Dartington Crystal factory and just on the outskirts of the town, RHS Rosemoor is a must for keen gardeners. The cottages are ideally situated for exploring the other attractions this part of Devon has to offer. There are stunning beaches at Woolacombe and Sandymouth. Enjoy a day out at Hartland and visit the lighthouse, Hartland Quay and the historic fishing village of Clovelly. There are numerous National Trust properties in the surrounding area to enjoy. The town of Bideford lies close by where you will find most amenities and at Bideford’s quay, you can book a trip to Lundy Island. Slightly further afield, there is the Dartmoor and Exmoor National Parks. Beach lovers will delight in the wide sandy beaches, the nearest being at Westward Ho! A day out at The Milky Way and The Big Sheep will keep the younger ones entertained. Beach 10 miles. Shop, pub and restaurant 1 mile.

Beautiful cottage in lovely surroundings. It was a perfect place to stay for the Bank Holiday weekend. Our hosts were very friendly and we were very well looked after.

Beautiful property but needs some upgrade and attention to cleanliness. Beds in desperate need of replacement especially downstairs bed, springs broken. Found several dirty utensils ect in kitchen. Know it is a country property but excess cobwebs found. Owners were very nice and Elizabeth makes lovely honey. Despite problems we enjoyed our stay in a very spacious property.
