The Retreat Lulworth is a well-received cottage praised for its cleanliness, comfort, and prime location within walking distance to local attractions. The property is lauded for its excellent location, with easy access to the coast, pubs, and local scenery. The proximity to attractions like Lulworth Cove is frequently highlighted.
The majority of guests find the beds very comfortable and the cottage cosy, although there are a few remarks about soft beds in the twin room and the heat from the AGA cooker.
While the cottage is generally well-equipped, some guests note issues with the AGA cooker and a non-functional tin opener. The dining area's lighting and the garden's accessibility are also mentioned as areas for improvement.
There are positive comments about the welcome treats provided, suggesting thoughtfulness. However, as gifts are not consistently mentioned across reviews, it cannot be guaranteed that such amenities will always be provided.

A wonderful cottage, really spotless and very comfortable. Lovely little find. Great location and everything we needed for cooking etc. Very comfortable beds. Hosts were also accommodating. Would definitely recommend.

A nice cottage in a popular location. Whilst it is a reasonable property there are a few niggles. We visited in September when it is a bit cooler but this property has an AGA cooker which is always on. I imagine it could be a bit much in full summer. That said it had clearly been turned down to its lowest level hence when I used the oven to cook it took an hour just to cook sausages. Note that if you want to open any tins you would be best taking your own tin opener as the one provided doesn't work. Also the dining area is in the middle of the house and has no windows. It is quite dimly lit which I found to be an issue whilst trying to work at the table. The garden is steep with very minimal steps and is not suitable for people with even a minor mobility issue.

A lovely weekend away in an idyllic location. Great to be able to spend the whole weekend on foot with all we needed in walking distance!Beautiful scenery; swimming and eating all within a stones throw of the cottage. The cottage suited our needs well - clean and well furnished. The parking space was good, however someone with a large 4x4 might struggle as it was right next to the road. Loved the terrace at the top of the garden - amazing views. The back gate onto a footpath was good for avoiding the road.West Lulworth is a great spot for a weekend. Would return to explore some more.
