Very good location. The bedrooms were very spacious and comfortable. Lounge and kitchen comfortable and lots of equipment in the kitchen although it took an age to warm up the oven. The downside was the bathrooms, the one downstairs being the worst. No lock on the door a very rusty looking radiator and a damp smell, we didn’t use it. Only a bath in the top on suite although it must have had a shower at some point as it had a shower fitting. Family bathroom dark and needed more shelving and hooks. Poor tv reception. Only having one set of keys for the front door was a bit of an issue for 3 families. Lyme Bay Holidays were very efficient when we had a blocked toilet.

It seemed that cleaners didn't report any defects. The floor-standing lamp in my ground floor room had a duff bulb, the hot water in my ensuite was supplied from a wall mounted electric heater with delivery through a nozzle which had a spray-end into a tiny basin, wetting the user and the floor. The ventilation fan didn't work, but the bulb was replaced promptly, the fan switch needing a part not in stock. The company contested my observation that the dining table did not accomodate ten people as per property description and were insulting enough to suggest other charis could be brought from other rooms. The sheer fact of the matter was that the table could not squeeze ten around its perimeter. Suffering badly from rheumatoid arthritis I didn't venture upstairs further than the living room but one of my sons told me that a light didn't work in their shower room. The two long settees were uncomfortable with backs which were too low to support your head. There was no visible stock of spare toilet rolls so one of my daughters-in-law had to buy some. Thanks to non-working shower vent, my room carried an increasingly unpleasant odour from which my nose will never recover! Also the bed was one which would adapt to a double by pulling out another single from beneath; but looking at it this, would not seem to be wise as the 'double' would be so low as impossible to get out of with my RA. Very disappointing indeed, there were also some small patches of plaster which had come away. The positives were that nine of us stayed in centre of town close to the beach.

3 car parking a huge bonus. The decor in some areas is tired and needs a quick refresh. The outside terrace was basic but the BBQ needs replacing or renovating (not used)and the metal chairs are very rusty and would benefit by being painted or better still replaced. However we enjoyed our stay very much and the house was good value.
