About this property

This delightful, terraced cottage sits on the main street in Sherborne, West Dorset. Wonderfully presented over three floors, Foxden is a great escape for families and friends looking to experience this beautiful Dorset location. Park at the rear of the property and follow the garden path down to the interior. The kitchen is where the designated chef can dust off those cooking books and relish in some home-cooking, utilising the electric oven and gas hob, microwave, fridge, freezer and there’s even a dishwasher to help clean up! Take comfort in the living room, complete with flagstone flooring and exposed beams, this room boasts a homely character, enhanced by the woodburning stove resting in the chimney breast. Head up to the first floor, home to a double bed and family bathroom, complete with roll-top bath and hand-held shower. Continue to the second floor where the master king-size rests, featuring vaulted ceilings and exposed beams. When you’re ready to explore, take a gentle stroll from this Sherborne cottage in the town centre. Spend an afternoon browsing the little shops before treating yourselves to a meal in one of the many superb restaurants or visit the ancient abbey and nearby castles. Other things to add to your itinerary, include the Vroom Room, an interactive garage and mini road system, which is great for those visiting with young children and the nearby Fleet Air Arm Museum in Yeovilton promises a wonderful day out. Take off to the nearby town of Yeovil, where you can explore the National Trust property of Montacute House or amble in the beautiful Ninesprings country park. Choose Foxden for your next escape to Dorset.

The historic town of Sherborne is home to numerous magnificent structures, historic inns, and charming shops. It is situated on the lovely banks of the River Yeo and is surrounded by gorgeous, unspoiled countryside. Sherborne is a great spot for a day of touring or a peaceful afternoon stroll. It is probably best known for its lovely abbey and two majestic castles, one of which is relatively "new," only dating back to 1594 and possessing superbly planted grounds. The gorgeous Stourhead mansion and grounds and the magnificent Dorset Heritage Coast are both accessible by short drives, while the Fleet Air Arm Museum at Yeovilton in Somerset, which features breathtaking displays of historic aircraft—including Concorde—is only across the border. A great place for the whole family.

You do need to be foot sure to relax here as there are lots of steps from the car down through the garden and in the cottage too. A shower rather than a shower head, or at least a shower curtain, would be good. Nicely situated for enjoying the town and surrounding area.

It was not possible to contact Sykes by phone so an email has been sent. Upon arrival to the property, we found mushrooms (fungus) growing neat the cupboard door in the lounge. Would you stay in a place where fungus is growing on the floor in the lounge? The dust was extreme! This property looked like it had not had visitors for sometime and had certainly not been cleaned prior to occupancy! Cobwebs throughout the place, uncomfortable furniture. A rug in the lounge would make it feel warmer. A dressing table in the bedroom would also be useful. The kitchen is ilequipped. Three pans, and oven trays that all need a good clean. I cleaned the grease off the oven trays before I could start cookin A holiday location spoiled by the accommodation. Certainly not worth the cost.

Very central to the village. It was absolutely delightful, comfortable and had everything we needed. We would certainly return for another holiday if we wanted to come back to this area.
