Littledean 1.5 miles. A lovely cottage tucked away in the tiny hamlet of Green Bottom, deep in the Forest of Dean, with a wonderful garden and natural views right on your doorstep. Designed with the family in mind, this hidden gem is a heart-warming escape for everyone to spend some quality time together away from it all. Step inside to the lounge, which offers a warm and cosy spot to snuggle up at the end of the day, enhanced by a woodburner and beautiful paintings that fill the room with charm. A dining room seats up to eight people, dressed in light blues and whites, with a fireplace situated to the front. The bright airy colour-scheme continues through to a well-equipped kitchen, with a fresh and clean atmosphere. After enjoying a home-cooked meal, a leisurely evening can be spent in the games room, ideal for building some fun-filled memories with the entire family. A walk-in shower room finishes the ground floor. Stairs lead up to four beautiful bedrooms each uplifted by peaceful colours, creating a serene place to unwind and wake up to every morning. The family bathroom ties this all together with a pleasant view of the magnificent garden, which is best admired outside. The grounds of the house are really something special, perfect for a walk in the woodlands, or a go on the rope swing. Green Bottom is a mile from Littledean, an ancient Forest of Dean village with many original buildings. The woodland remains of a bronze-age hill fort on the hillside opposite the cottage is not to be missed, especially in bluebell season. The nearby picturesque village of Newnham-on-Severn offers riverside walks, a wide range of individual shops, and traditional inns. Enjoy a Wye-valley river cruise or hot air balloon or take trips to Symonds Yat, the Black Mountains, Hereford and Monmouth. A truly unique cottage sitting in the midst of its enchanting surroundings.
Littledean is a village on the edge of the Forest of Dean. It has a shop, two pubs and a Post Office, and is surrounded by countryside for walking and cycling. Activities in the Forest of Dean include caving, high ropes, horse riding and more, while Gloucester and Ross-on-Wye offer shops, restaurants and more.

Though wood was a bit dear for fire. But saying that everything else was good. Bed were comfortable. Cottage was only just warm enough with the heating on.

It is well equipped with comfortable beds and hot water always available. However there were maintenance issues that we were not happy about. The fact there are no photos of the kitchen is a red flag and this is probably due to the sink issue. The wooden worktop which surrounds the inside of the butler style sink was black and really looked quite disgusting. The owner provided a lengthy account of how difficult it is to keep it treated with special products as itâs too expensive to replace, clearly this is a big problem. I will add photos on Tripadvisor. There is a cracked window in the largest bedroom, again the owner is aware but has no plans to replace or fix it. Smaller issues could easily have been resolved if the property was checked properly before changeover - a new lightbulb needed in the bathroom and as we paid a large premium to stay at Christmas, which I checked would be decorated in advance I did expect the tree lights to work. Some small changes would make a big difference, like investing in new towels as we were provided with very worn, small bath towels.

The cottage is exactly as described and what we had expected, and the age of the building and the layout all added to the atmosphere. On Sunday afternoon, 11 members of the local Baptist congregation gathered for their Sunday service in the 1877 chapel opposite and the hymn singing to a pipe organ created a wonderful background to the area as it might have been in the days of the coal mining community of about 150 years ago, and evident throughout the Forest of Dean
