  ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ A Brilliant Family Getaway at Sykes Cottages' Ranbir House We recently had the pleasure of staying at Ranbir House through Sykes Cottages, and it was nothing short of a brilliant family getaway!

  The house exceeded our expectations, providing everything we needed for a memorable holiday. The games room was a highlight, especially for our three little boys who couldn’t get enough of the arcade machine. The table tennis table was another excellent addition, keeping everyone entertained. And the hot tub? Absolutely magnificent – the perfect way to unwind after a day of exploring. We also loved rediscovering old favorites with the extra board games provided; it was such a fantastic touch. The views were simply breathtaking. Enjoying breakfast and dinner while overlooking the rolling hills and watching sheep graze was a serene experience that added to the overall sense of peace and relaxation. The stream running through the garden added an unexpected but much-appreciated layer of well-being that we didn’t even realize we needed. There was so much to do in the surrounding area that we couldn’t fit it all in! We explored Puzzlewood, took on a family bike trail in the Forest of Dean, and visited some great award-winning pubs. A special mention to Farmer Boys for a delicious meal out, and the Forest Bakery in Longhope was an absolute gem. We even managed to cook a Sunday roast with local produce, and the cottage had everything we needed to make it a success. We were a group of two families, one with five members and one with three, and there was ample space for everyone. The bedrooms were spacious, clean, and met all our needs perfectly. With so much more to explore, we’re already planning our return. Ranbir House is a five-star retreat that we would recommend to any family looking for a perfect countryside escape.

  We had the best time!

  The cottage is beautiful, homely with lovely extra touches. Carolyn let us in showed us round! The house was decorated for Christmas still (28th-31st dec) with a beautifully lit tree. The welcome hamper was a lovely touch and just everything about the cottage was exactly what we needed. The hot tub was fab on a cold night and with no light pollution at night we could see the stars! Dog secure, and Ruby loved the outside areas! Our food delivery came and hour early and Carolyn put it all away for us - which we were super grateful for! Cottage was spotless and warm. The WiFi was fast enough, the hot water great and water pressure a little low (it is a cottage in the middle of a teeny village and we are used to fast WiFi and water!) but didn’t cause us any issues with showers/washing pots etc. the hot tub is a large one and is around the back of the property, very private! We explored Symonds Yak, Forest of Dean and popped over the to the Welsh border to visit Tintern. Super happy here and would return! Thanks for making the post Christmas lul a fabulous one!   Idyllic English countryside setting

  If you’re looking for the quintessential countryside experience with a group, this is the place. We went as an extended family group of 11 and wanted a place some people could explore the area but mostly to have a place to stay where all could enjoy. The kids spent hours in the pool, some enjoyed experiencing waking the Cotswold Way, others walked into town for meals or a drink in the garden of the local pub, others enjoyed shopping in nearby Tetsbury or exploring the farmers market in Stroud, and some just enjoyed knitting in the formal sitting room. The house felt like staying in a castle with incredible antiques and architectural details while still having the comforts of a modern hotel. The owners were responsive and helpful and we were grateful for the special family time the rental allowed us to have. I HIGHLY recommend this unique and comfortable home.

  A fantastic property with everything you could possibly need

  We had a large family gathering for NY and had a great time at this fantastic house. The kids loved that they had their own play room with a TV, games, movies, so plenty for them to do, but even though it was winter they spent most of their time outside exploring and playing in the lovely (and safe) garden. The kitchen is a really lovely homely space and so well equipped that there was nothing we were left searching for and were able to cook some great meals. The pool table was a real hit with everyone. The owners were very helpful but everything we needed was in the house so didn't need to call on them. Overall everyone had a comfortable stay and we loved it so much that we will likely be back one summer so that we can also enjoy the pool!

  The property is in a lovely location and was ideal for our plans.

  We found the property lacking in a number of areas for the price and compared to other properties we have previously visited. The property felt unfinished and rushed before our stay. There was a lack of bedroom furniture, one pillow per person on on the bed, poorly fitting curtains (just covered the windows in some rooms), the property is advertised for eight people but only had a dining table for six, lack of saucepans (only three provided, no tea or coffee pot, the microwave is not secured and nearly fell out, glass in the oven door was not fixed in. Oddly BBQ and garden chairs stored in the kitchen. This will probably be lovely property but needs finishing. We feel we overpaid for the property given the improvements needed
