Guests say

Guests consistently praise The Chicken Coop for its cleanliness, well-equipped facilities, and comfortable furnishings. The peaceful location is appreciated for its access to local attractions, though a car is necessary due to narrow lanes. The property's character and thoughtful touches, such as a welcome pack, contribute to a highly recommended and relaxing stay.

Reviewers unanimously mention the property's superb cleanliness, noting that everything was 'super clean' and 'spotlessly clean', indicating a very high standard of hygiene.

The location is described as good, peaceful, and ideal for accessing local sights, though the mention of narrow lanes suggests a car is essential. The lack of negative comments about the location supports a high score.

Comfort is highlighted with mentions of quality furnishings and comfortable beds. One guest's preference for a shower over a wet-room is a minor point that does not significantly detract from the overall comfort.

Facilities are frequently praised for being well-equipped and maintained, with everything guests could need. Only a single minor suggestion for better reading lights slightly affects the score.

Thoughtfulness is evident through the provision of a welcome pack and personal touches. While these are highly appreciated, it is noted that such gestures, though delightful, are not guaranteed for every stay.

We spent 7 nights at the accommodation, arriving Friday evening after 5 p.m. and leaving the following Friday morning, shortly after 9 a.m. The accommodation is spacious and has character. My wife is partially sighted, so the cosy but dimly lit light bulbs did not help. You have absolutley everything: freezer, fridge, washing machine, cupboard space, crockery, pans etc. Everything was super clean. On our arrival, we found a vase of freshly cut flowers, a variety of teas, coffee and biscuits. We experienced some minor problems which Terri (owner) quickly remedied. The guest book made for interesting readng, and there was not a single negative review, In fact, some of the guests returned multiple times. The location is good but the lanes are narrow. One must have a car to enjoy the scenery. There is ample car parking. Outside there is even an outside barbecue. Inside the property, there is a wood burning stove which we did not make use of. We explored Bristol, the steam railway in Cheltenham, the old docks in Lydney, and the city of Gloucester is well worth a visit. Where possible, we made use of the towns' P&R.Should we return to that neck of the woods, we would consider staying there again or one of the other two converted properties. It has however a wet-room but my personal preference is a shower. For Christians there is a beautiful Christian fellowship on Swan Street in Lydney, where we were made welcome. No hesitatiion in recommending the property.
