Guests say

The Hazeling Hideaway offers a tranquil retreat with wildlife sightings and a rural charm. Guests appreciate the welcome pack and the owner's helpfulness. While some find the space cosy and the surroundings scenic, others note limited storage and cleanliness issues. The local pub and proximity to Stroud are positives.

Reviews are mixed regarding cleanliness. Some guests found the property clean and tidy, while others reported finding dirt under furniture and a general need for better cleaning. This suggests room for improvement.

The location is praised for its peacefulness and rural setting, with wildlife sightings adding to the charm. The proximity to Stroud and local attractions is a plus, although the steep access may challenge some.

Comfort receives mixed feedback. Guests enjoy the quietness and the retreat feel, but some find the property cramped, with issues like a low bedroom ceiling and limited space around the bed.

Facilities are adequate but have some maintenance issues, such as a non-functional heated rail and heater. The shower's performance and cleanliness under furniture are also concerns.

Guests mention a welcome pack with food items, which is a thoughtful touch. However, it should be noted that such gifts are subject to change and may not be guaranteed for every stay.

Located not far from where poet Laurie Lee was brought up, you can walk in his footsteps by following the Laurie Lee Wildlife Way which takes in four Nature Reserves. The trail is marked by wooden posts carved with the famous author’s poems. Gloucestershire Wildlife Trust owns four beautiful nature reserves in the Slad Valley called Frith Wood, Snows Farm, Swifts Hill and, thanks to a very successful fundraising appeal, the new Laurie Lee Wood. People come from all over Europe to see the beauty of these valleys. The area is a magnet for walkers, explorers, and cyclists. This is a place you will want to return to again and again. Very quiet place, you wake up and can see deer, squirrels and rabbits. We liked the welcome pack with grapes, milk, croissants and jam. The host was very friendly and ready to help. Parking is a bit of an adventure but you get used to it quickly. The lack of storage space is a real drawback, maybe one shelf could make a difference. Reading on the couch is a bit difficult, one standard lamp would be a good idea. Please read and look carefully before you complain about banging your head on the bedroom ceiling. English is not my native language - but I was able to understand it.

The accommodation was nice, the bathroom looked lovely but the shower is useles, the heated rail did not work so nowhere to dry towels, couldnt get one of the heaters to work. When hoovering at the end of our stay I found a pile of bits covered in hair under the settee. The hut is behind the main house, so up the very steep drive and up to the telegraph pole, the stairs for the hut will be in front of you. In general it has what you need, very peaceful location, just a short walk to the local pub where the food is exceptional

It is a cosy, surprising and nice place to stay and discover the local area. The chalet is adequately equipped and works out well for two persons. The only remark is that there is very limited storing space, so our suitcases were placed in the living area.
