Venture out to visit the local village of Chilton Polden and treat yourselves to brunch at J’s cafe at West House Farm, book into the pool and spa, before heading over to see all the farm animals and having a go at alpaca trekking. A short drive will take you to the village of Street where you'll find Clarks Village shopping centre and a handful of eateries. A stone's throw away is Glastonbury where history lovers will love to visit Glastonbury Tor with its sweeping views, Glastonbury Abbey and Somerset Rural Life Museum with interactive exhibitions for the kids to enjoy. It wouldn't be a trip to Somerset without a visit to England's smallest city, Wells. Here you'll be able to see the stunning Wells Cathedral, The Bishop's Palace & Gardens and stroll around the city stopping at the local boutiques and cafes it has to offer. Make sure to take advantage of the properties location boasting a wealth of wonderful walks, hikes, bike trails with some spectacular views along the way as far as Wales and Exmoor. Watch the spectacular murmurations at RSPB Ham Wall and visit Avalon Marshes for a variety of migrant wetland birds and walks or visit Cheddar for its beautiful views of the gorge and visit the caves. Those after a more relaxing activity can head to the dog-friendly Berrow Beach in Burnham-on-Sea or Weston Super Mare Beach to spend a sunny afternoon lounging on the sand or strolling along the Grand Pier. The town of Bridgwater is an interesting destination with a bustling shopping centre. Being situated close to the Mendip Hills in the North and the Quantocks to the West, the town has several buildings of historical interest, an excellent selection of restaurants and pubs and is notable for the annual Bridgwater Illuminated Carnival in November using over 20,000 light bulbs resulting in a mesmerising display of colour, sound and entertainment. Cheddar is only a few miles away as is Glastonbury, home of King Arthur and pop festivals. The fascinating wetland areas surrounding Bridgwater are internationally renowned for wintering wildfowl and wading birds and support numerous species of breeding birds. Nearby Shapwick Heath is an excellent example of a wetland nature reserve well worth a visit, as is the Steart Marshes on the Bridgwater Bay National Nature Reserve comprising of 2564 hectares of bird and wildlife havens. Bridgwater offers the holidaymaker a rich variety of activities both rural and urban and is conveniently placed for all visitors.
