This bustling Somerset town was once an important settlement as far back as Saxon times and has a number of claim to fames, including the poet Geoffrey Chaucer, who was Deputy Forester at the royal estate of Petherton Park. Within the town, you will find a number of amenities and survives, including shops, pubs, restaurants and a selection of takeaways, offering something for all tastes. A larger selection of amenities can be found a short distance away in the historic market town of Bridgwater, including a train station so that you can easily visit other parts of Somerset and beyond. Outdoor enthusiasts can look forward to spending time within the Quantock Hills aonb, where you will find panoramic views taking through the diverse landscapes of coast, heath and combe, accompanied by deep wooded combes, exposed heathland summits and a number of charming villages to stop off at.
