Guests say

Meadow Thatch in Torquay, Devon, is a well-loved cottage praised for its cleanliness, stunning location, and homely comfort. Guests have enjoyed the beautiful gardens, proximity to woodland walks, the sea, and local amenities. While some minor maintenance issues were noted, the overall experience is of a charming and welcoming property, ideal for a peaceful retreat or an active holiday.

The majority of guests found the cottage to be immaculately clean, with only a few isolated comments about cleanliness issues such as windows and floors. These appear to be exceptions rather than the rule.

The location is consistently praised for its perfect balance between tranquillity and accessibility to local attractions, including woodland walks, beaches, and the quaint village of Cockington.

Guests describe the cottage as cosy, homely, and welcoming, with comfortable beds and a secure garden. Some feedback suggests that certain furniture could be updated for enhanced comfort.

While the cottage is well-equipped, there are several mentions of maintenance issues such as the boiler, dishwasher, and garden furniture. These are offset by the availability of amenities like Sky TV and good Wi-Fi.

There is insufficient information to score thoughtfulness accurately. While some guests mentioned welcome packs with wine and toiletries, it is not clear if this is a consistent offering, and it should not be expected in every stay.

However, There was no wi-fi on the router (we tried every suggestion to fix it without success). Also, there was a serious lack of certain items in the kitchen - no serving dishes for example. The other major drawback was the lack of an instruction book for the Aga cooker. Using a variable 4G signal no try an access one online proved difficult. On the positive side, the house was warm, with lashings of hot water available. The beds were comfortable and there were plenty of blankets etc. to cope with any cold nights. All in all a very enjoyable week in a fabulous location.

Beautiful cottage in a stunning location. All rooms are a really good size. Decor is really nice but does need a little maintenance in some areas (shower room needs re sealing etc., dining chairs needs replacing, not all parts of cooker work and freezer needs defrosting. I would definitely stay again as meadow thatch had such a cosy, homely atmosphere.

The mastic needs replacing in the shower. Bath plug broken had to use tweezers to get the plug out. We had to wash all the frying pans before use and definitely needs more baking trays, especially a roasting tin, we had to buy one. There were crumbs all down the side of the sofa. But apart from those minor things which are easily sorted we absolutely loved it.
