Bike store. Private parking for 2 cars. No smoking.. This delightful former wash house and brew house offers a very good standard of accommodation. Situated in the grounds of the owner’s working stock farm, this detached barn conversion is surrounded by quiet country lanes and has undulating countryside views, a haven to relax and unwind whatever the season. Walkers will enjoy the many local routes, and there is one from the front door to the River Waveney, which offers a mile of private river fishing, and cyclists can enjoy the national cycle route. This holiday property is ideally placed to visit the many attractions in the area. Visit Beccles, a popular market town on the southern broads, where you can watch the waterborne world go by, or hire a boat from a centre close by. Visit Southwold on the Suffolk Heritage Coast, is famous for its brewery and pier. A visit to medieval Norwich with its castle, cathedral, shopping opportunities and fine restaurants is also not to be missed. Africa Alive, Bewilderwood and Roar Dinosaur Park are a great day out for the kids. For the wild swimmers there are some fabulous spots along the beautiful Waveney River. Nearest Beach is 12 miles. Farm Shop and cafe 1.8 miles. Pub 1.2 miles. Between the months of May and October the owners glamping site offers play equipment and animals to pet.

If you’re looking for Vegas lights, noisy neighbours overlooking your every move, big roads, and a place where you can be glued to Wi-Fi… don’t book Copper Cottage. If, however, you’re looking to escape the hamster wheel of everyday life, you’ve found it.Lucy and Marcus were wonderful hosts – warm, welcoming and always on hand if we needed anything, while leaving us to enjoy our holiday in peace.The location is exactly what we were hoping for: remote, quiet and wonderfully calm. Life at home is incredibly busy, so this was the perfect place for us to slow down, switch off and simply enjoy being together.Our children had the most amazing time. Although we spent every day exploring Norfolk, one of the highlights was coming back to the farm so they could feed Judy the cow and all of the lambs. Gary the sheep was a wonderfully grumpy neighbour who made us smile every day, and the horses in the back garden field brought back so many happy memories for us. Their lovely owner, along with the resident ducks, even let the girls come through the fence to say hello and feed them treats and blueberries – little moments like that are what made this holiday so special.We also met Lucy’s dad while out walking around the farm. He was hard at work but still took the time to stop and say hello. Everyone we met made us feel so welcome.I know some previous reviews have mentioned the Wi-Fi, and from chatting with Lucy I think she’s already on the case. We actually packed a little 4G box just in case, but barely used it. The kids’ iPads stayed uncharged, we dusted off the DVD player for old-school family evenings, and apart from finding the postcode for our next day’s adventure, we loved disconnecting from the outside world. It turned out to be one of the best parts of the holiday.We travelled all over Norfolk, as far as Hunstanton and Blakeney, and if you don’t mind a scenic drive there are so many beautiful villages, beaches and stunning countryside to discover.As for the cottage itself – It was comfortable, full of character and somehow just felt right. Not everything has to be showroom perfect, and that’s exactly why this place has so much charm, it felt like a home from home.We’re genuinely sad to have left and could have stayed another week (or two). Copper Cottage gave us a little glimpse of a slower, simpler way of life, and it’s left us wondering whether we should spend more time in this beautiful part of the country.Thank you, Lucy and Marcus, for sharing your little slice of Norfolk with us. We wouldn’t change a thing, and we’re already talking about coming back.

Good points: comfortable beds. Fairly well equipped kitchen. Nice furnishings. Bed points: no umbrella with the garden table so no shade. Not very private patio area, No dishwasher. No wi-fi. No two-way switch on upstairs light leaving you to walk up the stairs in the dark!
