Bidford-on-Avon as a settlement dates back to Roman times, with the bridge as its centre piece dating back to the 15th century. Today, it has a fabulous mix of tranquillity, with walks through the meadow and along the river, to bustling pubs and bars with live bands and events going on throughout the summer. The river is a popular route with boats travelling from Stratford-upon-Avon to Tewkesbury, so on a nice summer’s day, have a picnic in the meadow and watch the world go by.
The village is in the heart of Shakespeare Country, only 10 minutes from Stratford-upon-Avon where you can find an abundance of shops, pubs, restaurants and historic houses, including William Shakespeare’s birthplace, or enjoy a play at the Royal Shakespeare Company Theatre. S104913 is also a stone’s throw from the beautiful Cotswolds, where you can take in the picturesque towns and villages and enjoy a traditional cream tea. The Vale of Evesham is close by and grows a variety of produce in the area, so be sure to stop at one of the many farm shops. Shop, pub and restaurant ¾ mile.
