Escape to Bryn Mawr Cabin, a charming wooden shepherd’s hut nestled on an organic farm in the Shropshire Hills National Landscape, just 6.5 miles from the historic town of Clun. This unique studio-style retreat offers a peaceful, rural setting with stunning countryside views. Inside, the cosy living space features a double bed with a single bunk above, seating, and a woodburning stove for those snug evenings. A private toilet is also provided within the hut for convenience. Step outside to an enclosed gravelled area complete with outdoor furniture, a firepit and a barbecue, perfect for alfresco dining while soaking up the scenery.
An additional hut houses a well-equipped kitchen/dining area for mealtimes, and a shared wet-room. When it comes to exploring, you’ll find plenty to enjoy nearby. The quaint town of Clun offers riverside walks, a historic castle ruin, and traditional pubs serving hearty meals. For a day out, head to Bishop’s Castle, known for its independent shops and award-winning breweries, or follow scenic trails along Offa’s Dyke Path for breathtaking views. History lovers can visit Stokesay Castle, while nature enthusiasts will adore Carding Mill Valley and the Long Mynd, a National Trust site perfect for hiking and wildlife spotting. Families can enjoy Acton Scott Historic Working Farm, and foodies will love the market town of Ludlow, famed for its castle and culinary scene.
With endless walking routes and picturesque landscapes on your doorstep, Bryn Mawr is an idyllic base for a truly memorable countryside escape.
A.E. Houseman's poem, A Shropshire Lad, defined Clun as 'the quietest place under the sun', and with its dramatic ruin of a Norman castle, Saxon church, the bustling river which flows under the 14th century pack horse bridge, and a country inn, Clun is a rural gem situated in the South Shropshire Hills. It lies on the Shropshire Way in a designated Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty close to the border of Wales, an area known as The Marches. This unspoilt part of Britain has an abundance of wildlife and beautiful unhindered walking and cycling routes winding their way through the countryside with the Clun and Kerry Forests, Offa's Dyke, and Kerry Ridgeway all close by. There are a wide range of festivals and shows on offer in the surrounding area throughout the year, including The Green Man festival in May. From Clun, you can also enjoy exploring the historic towns of Bishop's Castle, Presteigne, Ludlow, Shrewsbury, and Hereford, a must for visitors.
