Great place to spend a few days in the country, nice and quiet and peaceful

We selected this cottage for its location expecting it to be quiet away from roads etc. In this respect, it was in a very quiet location providing you don't mind being woken up 6.30 when the immediately adjacent stabling comes to life. The initial welcome from the host was excellent and we were pleased to find a well stocked table of local attraction leaflets though some of the other info' was a little out of date. The property was presented very clean with a stylish upmarket feel. Beds comfortable but chairs, both in kitchen and lounge do not suit those with back problems. Bathrooms dated but mostly serviceable. The upstairs bathroom sink was unusable given that water temperature could not be controlled because one tap was turned off so tight you'd need a wrench to turn it on - it still dripped incessantly. Likewise, the kitchen mixer tap dripped all the time. Potential guests should note that the stairs is relatively steep with short treads so some reliance on the handrail is advised. However, and this is a serious observation, the handrail is detaching from the wall at the top and is thus unsafe. The stair light is badly placed and dazzled rather than illuminated.Interesting to watch the horses being readied for turn-out but if you have a dislike of dogs, the owner has a few which make their presence known loudly.A little bit more TLC on maintenance would go a long way.

A wonderful cottage with very friendly, helpful owners. Spacious, peaceful and well appointed with lots to do in the surrounding area. Highly recommended.
