About this property

Myddelton Grange offers a holiday like no other in a majestic residence, embodying opulence and grandeur in Ilkley, West Yorkshire. With its expansive floor plan, the residence seamlessly combines luxury and classic architecture, boasting spacious bedrooms adorned with elegant furnishings. This extraordinary property is a testament to lavish living on a grand scale, offering an unparalleled experience of comfort and sophistication. Overlooking incredible countryside views of the Yorkshire Dales National Park is this impressive, converted, old catholic retreat centre. Myddelton Grange provides a unique base for a gathering of up to 46 guests, boasting a wide range of activities for all ages. The property sits remotely on the edge of Ilkley spa town, welcoming you in through luscious lawns and gardens where you can spend nights under the stars in one of the two hot tubs, or dining alfresco either for an afternoon picnic, or at the seating areas. Take advantage of the golf putting green on a sunny afternoon. Step inside and be wowed by the amount of space to explore, discover the characterful and peaceful chapel, an art room with crafts, and an amazing cinema room which boasts a large projector, reclining chairs, and a popcorn machine, whilst the adults will enjoy their very own private bar/lounge which houses a pool and snooker table, ample seating, and beer cooler dispenser for if you want to order a keg. The ground floor also hosts the usual holiday home facilities including an industrial-style kitchen with a wealth of appliances to cater for groups and a homely living/dining room where you can host meals on the formal dining table, or curl up with a good book on one of the sofas. More activity rooms rest below on the lower-ground-floor, featuring a playroom for the kids, and a spacious gym where you can get your sweat on the mats or on the exercise bikes. Head into the centre of Ilkley spa town, where you'll find a lovely choice of boutique shops, well-stocked supermarkets, Victorian tea rooms, and fabulous eateries, as well as the flowing River Wharfe, Ilkley Toy Museum, and access to the 84-mile-long 'Dales Way' trek. Nearby is the historic village of Bolton Abbey and immerse yourself in the local history and visit Bolton Priory before enjoying a gentle walk through the valley over to a cascading waterfall and up to the moors to Simon's Seat. Alternatively, spend a day in the bustling market town of Skipton, home to a wealth of lively amenities, and the Grade I-listed Skipton Castle, or embark on a journey along the Embsay & Bolton Abbey Steam Railway alongside awe-inspiring views of Yorkshire. Explore incredible beauty around the Yorkshire Dales which boasts scenic walking trails, challenging cycling paths, and hiking opportunities, whilst must-see Dales attractions await such as Parcevall Hall Gardens, Malham Cove, the Stepping Stones Bolton Abbey, Stump Cross Caverns, the historic mill town of Keighley and Leeds city centre further afield. There is something for everyone at Myddelton Grange.

The old Spa town of Ilkley is the pivotal town of Wharfedale, undoubtedly the most popular of all the Yorkshire Dales. The area offers some of the most spectacular and unspoilt scenery in the land. For the walker it gives unrivalled tramping ground. High up on the moors next to the white-walled cottage of White Wells (where once donkeys carried gout-ridden gentlemen to be doused in the icy-cold moorland spring) visitors will see a carefully landscaped Victorian scene including two semi-artificial lakes and the river Wharfe meandering through the centre of the town. Ilkley still has a Victorian and Edwardian feel to it. Splendid shops, pubs, restaurants and cafés adorn the tree-lined streets. Bettys, without doubt the finest tea shop in Yorkshire, and therefore the world, is situated on The Grove. Lovely parkland, a choice of open air or indoor swimming pools and a family picnic area providing pleasure for all. It is the starting point of the 84 mile-long 'Dales Way' walk, which is breathtakingly beautiful! Nearby Bolton Abbey is one of the region's most scenic areas and the walk along the river to the 'Strid' is a must. Ilkley Moor is the subject of Yorkshire's unofficial anthem “On Ilkla Moor Baht at”.
