We recently stayed at Noah’s Retreat, having specifically booked because it was advertised as a fishing holiday with a private fishing deck attached to the lodge. Unfortunately, the fishing was an enormous disappointment and was the main reason we left a day early.Over the entire week, we caught just three tiny carp, with the only other fish being tiny tiddlers on feeder rod and even those were scarce. If you’re booking this venue primarily for the fishing, especially if you have teenagers who are expecting decent carp fishing, I’d seriously reconsider. It was a complete waste of both our time and money. The accommodation itself also had issues. The mattress on the bed was very worn out and uncomfortable. Holes in bedding etc. Initially, staff brought us a mattress topper, but when we went to fit it, we discovered there were already two toppers on the bed trying to compensate for the poor mattress. To their credit, they replaced the mattress on Saturday, which did improve things, although the replacement was still of fairly poor quality. The one real positive was the staff. Everyone we dealt with was friendly, helpful and did their best to resolve the issues we raised, so I can’t fault them at all.Overall, we were very disappointed. We booked Noah’s Retreat for a fishing holiday, and sadly it didn’t deliver. Because the fishing was so poor, our children were bored for most of the week, and we decided to cut our holiday short and leave a day early. Unfortunately, we wouldn’t return or recommend it to anyone looking for a genuine fishing holiday.

Seasoned travellers whom have recently returned from Noahs Retreat following a midweek stay. The lodge itself was well presented and clean inside, but not without fault. Flooring throughout very creaky, door locks to bedrooms not aligned so wont stay closed, master bedroom mattress was very poor to sleep on, decking area not maintained with lots of slime and moss, spa had no roof assist so very difficult to get on and off.Lodge outside lights half wasn't working, and no lights around the site.Grounds just very unkept with potholes throughout.Staff interactions were minimal due to reception not being manned, but queries were answered promptly and efficiently.Wifi issued per lodge and was gratefully received, however don't expect lighting speeds.Location of site is excellent with Grimsby on the doorstep, York and Lincoln within an hour and a half drive.Morrisons and Aldi both in close proximity and within a five minute drive. All in all, the site and lodge just very tired and probably requires some attention.
