About this property
An end-terrace, stone-built cottage tucked away in a quiet and peaceful corner of Grassington, just a few hundred yards from the town centre. A character Grassington cottage providing comfortable accommodation in one of the Yorkshire Dales' premier resorts. This delightful Grassington cottage has been styled and furnished very much in keeping with a traditional Dales cottage and features an open plan ground floor with a sitting area with a lovely woodburner, a small kitchen and a dining area. Upstairs, the cottage has two bedrooms and a small bathroom. Outside, the shared courtyard provides a lovely place to sit out and watch everyday village life.
This cosy Grassington cottage is just a ten minute walk from the river and a two minute walk from the famous village centre, with its old curiosity shops, excellent local pubs, good eating establishments and of course, the old cobbled square where the annual Dickensian weekends are a real show-stopper. Add to this the annual Grassington Festival and the close proximity of many of the Dales' famous tourist locations and you've a Grassington holiday cottage not to be missed. The area is a walker's paradise, with beautiful walks in the village surrounds as well as more challenging walks into the nearby hills.

Grassington is a lovely village in the Yorkshire Dales National Park, on the River Wharfe, home to traditional stone cottages and a cobbled market place. Down dale is Bolton Abbey and up dale are Kettlewell and Buckden with wonderful limestone scenery. Enjoy great walking and explore Brontë Country and York, within easy driving distance.

Ideal location. The only negative point is the parking but we were luckily enough to get a spot on the free carpark right next to it .Would stay here again .

The good points were firstly the location. The cottage is only a couple of hundred yards to the village centre where we found several good pubs, cafes and a Spar shop. The cottage had a great wood burning stove and the bedlinen was very clean although torn. The cottage overall however, is poor. The TV and video recorder are museum pieces with cables and plug extensions strewn on the floor. There is wi-fi so why no smart TV? The boiler is in the lounge and it supplied only a few inches of water for a bath. There was no handle to access the bath. We tried using the shower but it was either freezing cold or scalding hot! Towels supplied were very old. All furnishings were really old fashioned and tatty. There were old boots and jeans in the drawers on the landing so obviously never been cleaned out. Other drawers were full of junk. The cupboard in the lounge had a wedge of cardboard to hold the doors closed. There was no fuel for the fire, matches or a welcome pack. The microwave was next to the fireplace and not in the kitchen area. The paper lampshades needed upgrading and the one on the landing was completely covered in what looks like spilled varnish from the ceiling. The split front door could be upgraded to a single, outward opening single one to allow easy access. We took one look in the outhouse / shower room and closed the door. The property only has single glazing so is draughty and cold. What an absolute mess. Need I go on? This cottage needs a full refurb inside. In this day and age, a holiday cottage should have good, modern facilities so people can relax. We couldn't wait to leave.

It was clean on arrival and beds were comfy. The location was perfect. We really enjoyed our stay Grassington is so pretty and everyone are so friendly.
