Beckdale is a detached bungalow resting in the village of Horton‑in‑Ribblesdale, North Yorkshire, offering a well‑placed base for families or groups of friends keen to explore the Yorkshire Dales. Set across a single storey, the property is thoughtfully arranged with generous living space and flexible sleeping accommodation. At the heart of the bungalow is an open‑plan living space, where the kitchen, dining and sitting areas come together to create a sociable hub for shared time. The sitting area is centred around a woodburning stove, providing a welcoming focal point after days spent walking or exploring the surrounding countryside, with the smart TV close at hand for evenings in.
The kitchen is arranged for straightforward self‑catering, while the dining area offers space to gather over meals and plan the next day’s adventures. The accommodation includes two bedrooms, both arranged as family rooms, each featuring two double beds and an en‑suite shower room fitted with a walk‑in shower, basin and WC. This layout offers privacy and flexibility for groups, making it well-suited to friends travelling together or larger families. Outside, Beckdale benefits from rear decking with furniture, providing a pleasant spot to enjoy fresh air and views across the surrounding landscape. Off‑road parking for two cars is available. The nearest pub is within easy reach, while shops are accessed by car.
From here, visit Malham for dramatic limestone scenery and waterfalls, head to Skipton for its historic castle and market town atmosphere, or travel further to Kendal as a gateway to the Lake District. With its village setting and adaptable layout, Beckdale offers a dependable base for discovering North Yorkshire.
The bustling market town of Settle lies at the south west rim of the Yorkshire Dales National Park, nestled beside the largest outcrop of limestone in Britain - a region of scars, cliffs, caves and potholes - amongst some of the most picturesque scenery in North Yorkshire. Tuesday is market day in Settle, when the square is filled with stalls offering a wide variety of crafts and goods. The market place is surrounded by local businesses, the centre being dominated by The Shambles, an historic three storey building with shops on two levels and houses above, and the Town Hall. There is a good selection of restaurants and pubs and a public swimming pool. The Victoria Hall has entertainment and other activities such as folk nights throughout the year. The famous Settle-Carlisle Railway crosses some of the most beautiful and inspiring upland scenery in the country. Natural attractions such as Malham Cove and Gordale Scar are within easy reach, as are the nearby Dales towns of Skipton and Malham. Settle is in the midst of excellent walking country and is a good base for touring the Dales, the Lake District and the Forest of Bowland.
