About this property

Set in beautiful countryside, Terrace Barn is a single storey one bedroom barn conversion offering space, amazing Yorkshire sunsets from the west facing terrace and the upmost of comfort at the foot of the Yorkshire Dales making for a great base to explore Wensleydale, Nidderdale or even the moors and all within easy access to the A1.

Resting between the pretty market towns of Ripon and Masham, Terrace Barn, built of local honey-coloured stone offers wider opportunities should guests seek to discover the North York Moors or further a field, the dramatic east coast and head off to Whitby for the day to return and relax in a truly exceptional hideaway.

Enter the barn via the hallway and mucky boot area, perfect for dogs after a walk along to West Tanfield for pub lunch in the beer garden adjacent to the river Ure. Then step foot into the living and dining room complimented by the most stunning wood burning stove, Italian Cassina bendy back back sofas, handmade wrought iron dining table and chairs, all framed with original art work and ceramics. There is a fully equipped Shaker style kitchen as you make your way through the barn, a delightful king-size bedroom with ensuite including a full-sized bath and shower over. A separate shower room with WC is also provided just off the entrance hallway.

Via the French door from the sitting room, to the rear of the property is a small terrace with BBQ, table and chairs where you can sit and watch the sun setting, there is also an enclosed grassed area suitable for dogs, or if you are nature loving, look out for the many species of birds and wildlife in the fields and by the river. There is a potting shed to the side of the property where guests are welcome to sit out in the summer sunshine listening to the sounds of nature.

Walking and Cycling enthusiasts will not be disappointed - The name, ‘Terrace Barn’ derives from the Georgian name given to the clifftop riverside walk along the river Ure which is just outside the Barn. This walk, which is part of a circular walk called the Ripon Rowel Walk, means you can walk from and back to the barn, maybe having dined at one of the three local pubs in North Stainley or West Tanfield. The Barn is also on the route of the Tour De France and is a great base for cyclists. There is a workshop with tools available for repairs, servicing and security.

If fishing is your thing, a day ticket from Ripon Piscatorial will see you fishing for grayling, brown trout, sea trout and salmon, and all just 100 yards from the barn. Even if you catch nothing, the river landscape is stunning and you might see an otter if you are very lucky.
