The market town of Hawes in North Yorkshire's Richmondshire is a major draw for visitors to the Yorkshire Dales National Park. Wensleydale, along with neighbouring Swaledale, Cotterdale, Dentdale, Garsdale, Wharfedale, and Chapel-le-Dale, are easily accessible from this town, which is conveniently located between Buttertubs and Fleet Moss. There are a number of great walking routes in the area, including the Hawes Town Trail, the Millennium Walk, the Pennine Way, and the banks of the River Ure. In 1998, Hawes won the Silver Award for "Best Day Trip Out" from the English Tourist Board. Even though modern vehicles have long since supplanted coaches and horse-drawn carts, the Tuesday market in Hawes still draws sheep farmers from all across northern England for a farmers' auction. There are several hotels, restaurants, and businesses in the Dales that serve both tourists and locals. Thanks to the success of the animated Wallace and Grommit films, the Wensleydale Creamery is now welcome tourists who want to see the cheese being made and try some of the finished product in the creamery's cosy cafe. The National Park Centre and Dales Countryside Museum are located in the historic railway yard. Museum visitors can peruse the impressive artefact collections amassed by Marie Hartley and Joan Ingilby, two of the most eminent Dales historians and authors.

As I canât walk far it meant I had to use the car to get into Hawes and then cope with parking. The room was claustrophobic with the wooden barriers completely blocking any view so again you said it had views! And there was no rear garden as in your description and the door on your picture was actually the campers toilets and when they were flushed the noise drowned out the television! But I did enjoy my stay despite all that but it has made me feel I need to have a lot more detail before I book again.
