The apartment takes its name from the dark skies and beautiful star gazing opportunities the location offers. Guided tours and equipment will be available on request at the Gallery. Nearby, Freeholders’ Wood Local Nature Reserve, an ancient semi-natural woodland, hosts the Planet Trail in October as part of the Yorkshire Dales Dark Skies Fringe Festival and again for the dark Skies Festival in February through to March. Heading out and about to explore, Starfall is perfectly situated to visit the superb waterfalls with other many walks in the area taking in the surrounding woods or heading up to the picturesque villages of Carperby or Aysgarth. There are two pubs nearby, both serving excellent food and local beers. The wonderfully stocked delicatessen in nearby Leyburn and the creamery at Wensleydale are a food lover’s dream, as are many of the pubs in and around Wensleydale all serving wonderful local produce. The location means the property is central to all of the attractions of the Yorkshire Dales National Park, the market town of Bedale, Hawes and the famous Hardraw Force, and the Wensleydale community run steam train. Nearby historic Bolton Castle, where Mary Queen of Scots was held for a time, offers an interesting day out and a visit to Middleham for it’s race horses, antique shops, galleries and tea room.

Beautiful small cottage looking out over the top falls at AyrsgarthKitchen/living room is small but adequate but did struggle for workspace (sink too big). Alas no dishwasher but water is hot so not a problem. Shower works good and bed is big and comfortable. We were there on a very hot day close to 30 degrees and flat remained cool and comfortable. Locally there is a wee cafe more or less downstairs and a gallery/craft shop also part of the same building. You'll find Steve and Julie (the flat owners there) and they are very nice and welcoming. A nice walk up the steps through the churchyard cuts out the corner towards the Aysgarth Hotel where food and hospitality is also good. There is a fuel station half a mile away in the village with a welcoming shop. The main attraction is the falls and they are certainly worth the visit

Apartment perfect for our needs and very clean although you would struggle if cooking meals due to lack of worktop space but that wasn't a problem for us as there are several places to eat within a few miles. Would recommend the Wheatsheaf at Caperby (2 miles away). The Aysgarth falls are right on your doorstep. We also did a walk from the doorstep to Bolton Castle which has a lovely little teashop (around 7 miles). The teashop beneath the apartment sells some lovely coffee and cakes with light lunches. Would highly recommend and will be returning.
