Guests appreciate its peaceful village setting, convenient for exploring the Yorkshire coast and moors. The large garden and thoughtful touches from the owner, such as welcome treats, add to the charm. While parking is on-street and there are a few steps inside, the overall experience is overwhelmingly positive, with many guests eager to return.

Multiple reviews highlight the cottage as spotlessly clean and well maintained, with no negative comments regarding cleanliness.

Guests consistently praise the location for its tranquillity and proximity to attractions like Whitby, York, and the North York Moors, though a few note the lack of local shops.

The cottage is described as cosy, comfortable, and warm, with particular mention of the log fire and beds. One guest noted a mattress could be improved, but this was a rare comment.

Reviews mention a well-equipped kitchen, spacious rooms, a large garden, and good amenities. The only minor issue raised was the absence of a kitchen blind, which was a personal preference.

Guests frequently mention thoughtful touches such as welcome packs, wine, chocolates, and homemade cakes. Please note, these gifts are not guaranteed for every stay.

Pickering is just a short drive away, where you can catch the steam train across the stunning national park to the historical coastal town of Whitby. Famous for its abbey and the 199 steps leading up to it, Whitby is full of charm, with cobbled streets and alleyways, a bustling harbour, cosmopolitan café and bistros. It is also famous for the Whitby Jet jewellery, where you’ll find lots of jewellers creating beautiful bespoke items. The seaside resorts of Filey and Scarborough are just a short drive away. Scarborough is the larger of the two resorts, with a very long promenade that you can walk on, from the north to the south bay, where the castle stands proud on the headland dividing the two bays.

There are donkey rides, amusements, the Sealife centre, a waterpark with a spa, and Peasholm Park, an oriental themed municipal park also host to the largest outdoor theatre in Europe. Filey is a much quieter resort, with a large sandy beach perfect for families. Or for a big day out York is perfect all year round, with a fascinating history to discover. Visit one of the many museums, or perhaps Castle Howard. Whether you want to visit the Yorkshire Wolds, North Yorkshire Moors or the east coast you are perfectly placed.

An excellent cottage with great amenities. The location was ideal both for the moors and rural North Yorkshire and the costal towns and coastline. North York Moors railway a must.Highly recommend the Fox and Rabbit pub at Lockton and Ingram’s fish and chips in Filey.A lovely, relaxing week in a beautiful part of England.

We had a wonderful time in this beautiful cottage. We had absolutely everything we needed for our week’s stay and the welcome goodies were much appreciated. We were close to Whitby, where we had the best Cod and Chips at the Magpie Cafe - loved it so much, went there 3 times 😉.Visited Goathland - home of Heartbeat - another beautiful village. Sheep roaming about everywhere. We will be back.Just one small observation about the property - new mattress is needed for the main bedroom, as it was extremely uncomfortable and the springs could be felt when lying on the bed at night.
